Janine Beckie Parents, Gary & Sheila
Janine Beckie was born to Canadian parents Gary and Sheila Beckie in Colorado, United States, on August 20, 1994.
She was raised alongside her three older siblings, Drew, Alysha, and Jenelle, in a family deeply passionate about sports.
Both parents played basketball, while all the siblings gravitated towards soccer.
All her siblings and parents were born in Saskatchewan, and the entire family moved to Colorado shortly before Janine’s birth.
Janine’s parents, Gary and Sheila, were former varsity basketball players at the University of Saskatchewan.
They relocated to the United States to facilitate Gary’s pursuit of a career in the oil and gas industry.
Tragically, Janine faced the loss of her father, Gary Beckie, who died due to skin cancer after a three-year battle when she was just seven years old in 2001.
She expressed that this loss significantly influenced her and her siblings, ultimately bringing them closer together.
Despite the challenges, their mother, Sheila Beckie, played a pivotal role in their upbringing, single-handedly raising all four children after her husband’s passing.
During the challenging times, Sheila had to secure employment, taking on house cleaning for a year.
Sheila obtained a master’s degree in counseling and is currently the academic and college counselor at Valor Christian High School.
Janine attributes much of her success to the strength demonstrated by her mother throughout their family’s journey.
