Jayson Tatum huge scoring gives Boston a win over the Nets

Boston Celtics faced off the Brooklyn Nets at TD Garden on Friday night for Game 3.

The Celtics entered their home court with two losses of the series under the belt while the Nets with two wins.

The Nets intended to take the win again tonight but Jayson Tatum shattered their aim with a huge scoring night.

He even made history in the game, becoming the 3rd youngest player in NBA history to score 50+ PTS in an NBAPlayoffs game.

The Celtics defeated the Nets 125-119 to cut the Nets’ lead to 2-1 in Game 3.

On the other hand, Kevin Durant and James Harden also made history despite their loss to the Celtics.

The Nets started strong in the first quarter

Kemba Walker started the first quarter with a layup for the Celtics.

James Harden then answered back with a bucket drawing a foul in the process.

This gave the Nets a point lead.

Joe Harris then knocked down a three-pointer for the Nets, extending the lead to four-point about a minute into the quarter.

Kevin Durant dropped a three-pointer subsequently.

And Harden drove straight to the rim, dropping a layup and another three-pointer on the next possession.

This all led to a 19-2 run within four minutes into the game.

Jayson Tatum finally dropped a jumper for the Celtics breaking the run.

He then blocked Durant and dropped a layup on the other side along with a floater on the next possession, making a 6-0 run all by himself to bring the game within 9 point

Marcus Smart then drove straight to the rim, dropping a layup that cut the Nets lead to 7 points with 6:39 reminding in the quarter.

Harden then answered back with a step-back three-pointer and passed the ball to Durant for a jumper on the next possession.

They were 24-14 halfway into the quarter with the Nets taking 10 point lead.

Smart then drove straight to the basket dropping the shot and drawing a foul, making it a three-point play.

Durant shoots a fadeaway over Tatum for another bucket and came up again with another bucket taking 11 point lead over the Celtics.

Smart answered back with a three-pointer on Walker’s pass. Tyler Johnson then came up with a bucket on Durant’s pass.

The Celtics took the lead in the first quarter.

Romeo Langford then dropped a three-pointer on the other side bringing the game within seven points with under two minutes left to play in the quarter.

Nicolas Claxton dropped a bucket on Kyrie Irving’s pass and then Tatum answered back with a step-back jumper.

Tristan Thomson then drops another bucket on Tatum’s assist. Tatum stole the ball and dropped a three-pointer on the other side.

Smart then hits a three-pointer all leading to a 10-0 run, giving a point lead and ending the quarter 33-32.

The Celtics continued to lead in the second quarter.

They were 32-35 at the start of the second quarter with the Celtics extending the lead with a bucket. Subsequently, Harden lob to Claxton gave a bucket to the Nets.

Tatum missed a shot but Thompson retrieved it and dropped a bucket after the miss.

He dropped a step-back three-pointer over Claxton on the next possession as a result the Celtics took 6 point lead over the Nets.

Tyler Johnson dropped a three-pointer on the other side afterward.

Langford answered back with a three-pointer of his own. Harris then dropped a layup.

As a result, Tatum gets another bucket on the offensive end, and the Celtics took 10 point lead with about two minutes left in the quarter.

Durant banked a shot and subsequently, Thompson dropped another bucket on Fournier’s miss.

The quarter ended 57-61 with the Celtics in the lead.

The Celtics continued to dominate in the third quarter.

Tatum continued his hot scoring as he dropped a three-pointer to start the third quarter.

Smart came up with a steal and found Thompson on the other end for a dunk. As a result, the Celtics took 10 point lead under 2 minutes into the quarter.

Durant then answered with a three-pointer.

They were 60-69 with 9:39 remaining in the quarter. As Durant missed a three-pointer, Kyrie quickly came up with a bucket on his miss.

Harden found Durant for a bucket subsequently. Tatum then came up with a turn-around jumper.

Durant knocked down a three-pointer and Irving then dropped a jumper afterward.

This gave the Nets a point lead over the Celtics halfway into the quarter.

The Nets trailed the Celtics 79-91 with under two minutes left to play in the quarter.

Tatum again dropped a three-pointer on the next possession. He pulled a two-pointer next.

While Harden answered back with a three-pointer. Irving then came up with a jumper with under 10 seconds left to shoot.

The quarter ended 84-96 with the Celtics in the lead.

The Celtics ultimately win in the fourth quarter.

Harden started the fourth quarter with a three-pointer. And Fournier answered back with a three-pointer.

Thompson then dropped a layup on the next possession. He subsequently dropped a dunk on Walker’s missed shot.

Walker then dropped a jumper and then Harden made a three-pointer next.

Kyrie knocked down a long three-pointer. Tatum dropped a jumper on the other side.

But then Irving came up with another three-pointer.

Tatum dropped a layup and Fournier knocked down a three-pointer and Walker came up with a jumper.

The Nets trailed the Celtics 106-116 with about three minutes remaining in the quarter.

Smart extended the lead to 12 points with a jumper. James Harden then knocked down a three-pointer.

While Tatum knocked a jumper over Durant.

They were 116-123 as Durant dropped a three-pointer cutting the Celtics lead to four points.

Williams dropped a dunk on Fournier’s pass with 13 seconds remaining.

Tatum caught the final rebound on Harden’s missed three-pointer, ending the game with a 119-125 win over the Nets.

The Celtics were with two losses under their belt when they entered the court against the Nets on Friday night.

What seemed like another win for the Net’s big trio shattered after a historic night from the Celtics star Jayson Tatum.

Tatum had one of the best scoring nights not only for his career but also for NBA history.

He dropped a playoff career-high 50 points along with six rebounds and seven assists.

”It’s just one of those nights,” Tatum said. ”A tough shooting night the first game and I didn’t get to play much the last game because I got poked in the eye.”

And Tatum became the sixth player in franchise history to score 50 points in a playoff game.

He also is the third-youngest player in NBA history to score 50 plus points in an NBA Playoffs game.

”We had a lot of guys step up tonight around Jayson being special,” Boston coach Brad Stevens said.

Great night after struggling in the past two playoff games.

Tatum struggled to make much impact in the last two playoff games as the Celtics lost those two but playing the game in their homecourt gave him an advantage.

”There’s nothing like playing at home in front of your home crowd,” Jayson said.

He joined John Havlicek, Isaiah Thomas, Ray Allen, Sam Jones, and Bob Cousy as Celtics with 50 points in a playoff game.

Teammate Marcus Smart said,” He was just locked in mentally”. ”We’re going up against a juggernaut of a team. Like I said before, the world knows it and we know it. It’s not going to be easy. You can’t lay down, you can’t take a step back. You have to be able to press forward and that’s what we did tonight.”

Besides Tatum other Celtics players also had a great performance in the win.

As Marcus Smart dropped 23 points with 3 rebounds and 6 assists.

Tristan Thompson was all around the floor as he made 19 points along with 13 rebounds.

Evan Fournier dropped 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

Historic night for James Harden and Kevin Durant duo.

On the other hand, James Harden led the Nets scoring 41 points and 10 assists double-double along with 7 rebounds.

While Kevin Durant dropped 39 points, 9 rebounds, and an assist.

Both the Nets stars also made history despite the loss. As they become the first pair of Nets teammates to score 30 plus points each in a playoff game since 2006.

Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving, a former Celtics player dropped 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists despite being booed by Celtics every time he touched the ball.

He was booed even before the game, during warmups, introduction but still he remained in the game and played for his teams.

But Things turned somewhat ugly when some fans briefly broke into a vulgar chant toward Irving a few times.

”It’s basketball. I’ve been in a few environments in my life,” Irving said. ”Like I said, as long as it’s just strictly the nature of basketball out there and there’s nothing extra, I’m cool with it.”
