The Columbia-born soccer player Jesus Ferreira moved to Dallas with his parents when he was ten. Although his dad returned to his home country two years later, Jesus and his mom stayed in the US.
Jesus’s dad, David, appeared in international tournaments for the Columbian national team for nearly seven years. Seeing him play, his sons fostered a desire to become professional soccer players in their childhood.
Consequently, Jesus and his brothers joined FC Dallas’s youth academy as kids. David’s eldest son, Jesus, a U.S. citizen, has played for the Dallas club in Major League Soccer since 2017.
Despite his Columbian heritage, Jesus was sure he would want to debut internationally for the U.S. national team. Before he obtained U.S. citizenship, he frequently attended the U.S. Soccer Federation’s youth camp.
Jesus eventually made his senior international debut for the United States in a friendly match against Costa Rica in 2020. Appearing in about 20 international games now, he has scored 11 goals for his national side.
Ferreira was part of the U.S. Soccer team that participated in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Jesus Ferreira was born to his parents, David and Mandy Ferreira, on December 24, 2000, in Santa Marta, Columbia. He has two younger siblings, Santiago and Matthew.
Ferreira’s dad met his mom, Mandy, when he was still an amateur player in Columbia. Born on August 9, 1979, David began his league career with the Columbian Primera B Division club Expresso Rojo.
After spending nearly three seasons with Division B club, he made his top league debut with America de Cali in 2000. His son, Jesus, was born around the same time.
A year later, the attacking midfielder made his international debut for the Columbian national team. He was a member of the Columbian team that lifted the Copa America title in 2001.
Appearing in 39 matches for Columbia from 2001 to 2008, he scored three goals alongside numerous assists.
Similarly, he played club football until his retirement in 2019. After playing for various clubs across Latin America, David moved to the United States in 2009 to play for FC Dallas in the MLS.
Although he returned to Columbia in 2014, his family settled in Texas, and his children attended schools there. His wife, Mandy, raised her three children in the United States and thus are American.

Born to Texas residents Kyle and Jennifer Pendergrass, Calyn attended Chapel Hill High School in Tyler. She is pursuing her undergraduate course at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
