McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana has renamed its basketball court in honor of Joe Dumars, a Basketball Hall of Famer and former player for the Detroit Pistons.

On January 5, 2023, the university revealed the basketball court, naming it Joe Dumars Court in celebration of “Joe Dumars Day.” 

The naming of the court serves as a lasting tribute to Dumars’ positive impact and serves to inspire future generations.

Dumars, who scored record-breaking 2,607 points during his four seasons at McNeese still stands, is considered the most accomplished basketball player to emerge from the university.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Dumars earns recognition as a leader and pioneer in both his professional and personal life.

He played his entire NBA career with the Pistons, earning six All-Star selections and winning two championships.
