An American football head coach of the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL, John William Harbaugh, was born on September 23, 1962.

John Harbaugh attended Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and went on to attend Miami University, where he played varsity football as a defensive back. 

After his football career as a player, he transitioned his career as a coach and was hired as an assistant coach in the NFL in 1998 by the Philadelphia Eagles.

He worked as the defensive backs coach and special teams coach for the Philadelphia Eagles for nine years.

Later in 2008, John became the third-ever head coach of the Baltimore Ravens after Jason Garrett, the team’s first choice, decided to stay with the Dallas Cowboys after receiving a raise and a promotion to assistant head coach.

Jim Harbaugh, the younger brother of John Harbaugh, is also a football coach like his brother. He currently serves as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines.

Jim was born and raised in a family that shared a love for football. Growing up, he was surrounded by the sports enthusiast like his father and older brother.

He played college football before being selected by the Chicago Bears in the first round (26th overall) of the 1987 NFL Draft.

Jim, throughout his career, played Football for various teams, including the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, San Diego Chargers and Detroit Lions, and Carolina Panthers.

Jim Harbaugh’s Coaching Career

After a successful football career, Jim decided to try coaching, following in his father’s footsteps, who had coached for over eighteen years.

Jim professionally started his coaching career for the Oakland Raiders from 2002 to 2003 as the quarterback coach.

Later Jim was appointed as head football coach at the University of San Diego, where he spent two seasons before serving as a head coach at Stanford University.

On December 30, 2014, John Harbaugh was officially introduced as the new head football coach for the University of Michigan. 

John And Jim Harbaugh’s Family 

The Harbaugh brother was born as the son of Jacqueline M. “Jackie” and Jack Harbaugh.

Their mother has both Sicilian and Polish ancestry, while his father has Irish and German ancestry.

Jim and John were both born in Toledo while their father was an assistant football coach at nearby Perrysburg High School in Perrysburg.

During Jim’s childhood, the family moved frequently due to his father’s assistant coaching positions at various universities.

John and Jim are not the only siblings in the family, they also have a sister named Joani.

Joani is married to Tom Crean, who served as the head basketball coach for the men’s Georgia Bulldogs team.
