However, there is not much when it comes to the personal lives of his parents and siblings.

But we can trace his source of inspiration and passion for picking up football as a career to his father.

Jojo was the eldest of his three siblings. He watched his father take part in the Southern California baseball league.

As a 3-year-old, he was impressed after seeing his father play in a men’s club on Sunday afternoons. Similarly, Jojo’s father would often take him to significant baseball matches.

Jojo would sit by the side in the big stadium, watching the game that he hoped to one day dominate.

The baseball player recalled his background naturally pushed his interests to the field. Additionally, he discovered that he was good at it and had a good time doing it.

Hence, Jojo was heavily motivated by his family, who loved baseball. Consequently, Jojo started playing baseball when he began attending high school.

Jojo Romero | Career

Rise to the top

The emotional connection between him and his father would continue to high school. Jojo Romero attended Oxnard High School. It is located in Oxnard, California, and is famous for its athletics program.

The coaching team noticed Jojo from the moment he walked onto the field. Jojo’s accuracy and instincts inspired Coach Abel. He decided to test him as the freshman team’s starting left pitcher.

Nonetheless, Jojo had moments of ups and downs. He recalls undergoing strict training sessions.

Coach Abel’s inclusive approach and Oxnard’s baseball tradition was huge success. Consequently, Jojo started playing the best baseball of his life.

Accordingly, he had offers from prestigious colleges such as Utah, UC Irvine, & Santa Barbara. Firstly, he was in talks with UCLA, the reigning national champions.

Likewise, the Long Beach State and San Diego State were also interested in him.

However, his interactions with Coach Johnson and the staff played a significant role. Coach Johnson was the head of Nevada Wolf Pack baseball.

Jojo felt the team was in for some great success in years to come. Similarly, he felt quite easy dealing with the coaching staff.

Hence, Jojo chose Nevada over some prestigious Southern California teams. Coach Johnson received an early verbal commitment from him.

Setbacks

Jojo had a four-pitch technique that included a high-80 speed fastball. Similarly, it also had a curveball, changeup, and slider. This versatility made him a vital asset to the team.

Jojo began his college career pitching out of the bullpen at the University of Nevada, Reno, in 2015. He was getting his first competitive baseball experience during his time at Nevada.

However, he decided to leave the Nevada Wolf pack program, and transfer as his head coach Jay Johnson had accepted a job at the University of Arizona.

Thus, he signed with the Wildcats in the hopes of following Coach Johnson to Arizona. But professional scouts became more interested in Jojo. Hence, he realized his future draft status could change his plans.

Transfer to Yavapai

Consequently, he transferred, looking for a better fit. Being a bright prospect, he received almost a dozen offers.

Accordingly, it all came together when he committed to play for Yavapai College.

Continuing to develop his mechanics was his main priority throughout his senior season. Jojo worked hard with his teammates in training. But it was evident that he was a special baseball pitcher.

Since transferring, Jojo has made tremendous progress. He went from being a shaky player in Nevada’s bullpen to a regular starter. Additionally, he logged an extra 73 2/3 frames.

Jojo was pivotal in helping Yavapai capture the NJCAA Division I JUCO World Series title. In the championship game, Jojo threw a complete game with 15 strikeouts. The game ended in a 5-2 win over San Jacinto North.

MLB Draft and Experience in Minor League

Jojo’s scouting report mentioned durability. But he had changed into a complete player during his time at Yavapai. After his successful performance in 2015, he never looked back.

However, 2016 was a really important year for him. He was eligible to be drafted for the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. Jojo knew he had an impressive season the year before.

The Phillies had been watching his progress over the year. Also, the pitching coach at Yavapai was close friends with an area scout.

Consequently, the Philadelphia Phillies drafted Jojo in the draft’s fourth round. Jojo was selected first overall in the fourth round out of Yavapai College in Arizona.

He was 107th overall in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. Similarly, the pick’s allocated slot value was around $557,600. After signing with the Phillies, he was assigned to Class A Williamsport.

Jojo made his professional debut with the Williamsport Crosscutters shortly. He pitched there for the entire season, going 2–2 with a 2.56 ERA in ten games.

But Jojo was a Lakewood BlueClaws and Clearwater Thresher’s member in 2017. He recorded a combined 23 starts with Class A Lakewood and Class A Advanced Clearwater.

Reaching the Major League

Accordingly, Jojo Romero was performing up to the required standards. When the game needed him, he was stepping up and performing.

Jojo carried the same momentum in 2018. He recorded 7–6 with a 3.80 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 106.2 innings with the Reading Fighting Phils. They were a minor league baseball team based in Reading.

Similarly, in the 2019 season, he was chosen to play for the Scottsdale Scorpions.

Thus, Jojo had gathered a handful of minor league experience. Also, he had put in some impressive individual performances during the time.

With the Braves leading, he pitched the eighth inning. Jojo struck out all three batters he faced. He struck out the side while reaching 97 mph on the radar gun.

Hence, it was evident Jojo broke into the Major league with an impressive performance.

Role in 2021

At a glance, the Philadelphia Phillies had a disappointing 2020 season. They put up weak performances against many rival opponents.

However, they did see a rise in the number of rookies, expected and unexpected.

Jojo Romero continued to impress in his few starts, posting a 2.89 ERA in his first nine innings. But he struggled a little, allowing six earned runs in just three appearances.

Jojo seems to be a part of a Phillies bullpen despite his challenges. He and the team will be looking to strengthen in 2021 and beyond.

Is Jojo Romero Married? | Know About His Marital Status

According to several sources, Jojo isn’t married or in any relationship with anyone. However, it’s hard to believe the athlete is single because he has a warm personality.

Many of Jojo’s teammates, on the other hand, believe he is secretly dating. However, he has avoided public appearances with his girlfriend.

Nonetheless, the athlete has made no indications about his possible relationship.

Besides, Jojo has a bright future in MLB as a rising star. As a result, he might be concentrating on his training rather than putting effort into love or marriage.
