Jordan Lawlar is an American professional baseball player who currently serves as a shortstop in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.

The Arizona Diamondbacks chose him as the sixth overall pick in the first round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft.

The player played at four different levels in 2022, reaching Double-A Amarillo by the end of the season.

Jordan Lawlar attended Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas in Dallas, Texas. He played varsity baseball starting from his sophomore year in 2019.

He had a batting average of .409 during his sophomore year with five home runs. In his junior year, he hit .485 with one home run and 13 RBIs in 12 games before the season was cut short due to COVID-19.

That summer, he played in the Perfect Game All-American Classic and was named the Jackie Robinson Perfect Game Player of the Year.

In his senior year, he had an impressive season with a .412 batting average, six home runs, 37 RBIs, and 32 stolen bases. He was named the Texas Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year.

Jordan had initially committed to play college baseball at Vanderbilt University. However, he opted to sign with the Arizona Diamondbacks after being drafted in the first round.

Lawlar debuted with the Arizona Complex League Diamondbacks. However, he, unfortunately, suffered a left shoulder injury that required season-ending surgery after just two games.

The player returned to the field in 2022 and started the season playing for the Visalia Rawhide in the Low-A California League. However, he was placed on the injured list due to a back injury in late May.

Lawlar made a comeback in mid-June and showcased an impressive performance with a .351 batting average, nine home runs, 32 RBIs, and 24 stolen bases over 44 games.

As a result, he was promoted to the Hillsboro Hops in the High-A Northwest League in late July.

He played 30 games for Hillsboro before being promoted to the Amarillo Sod Poodles in the Double-A Texas League.

In his 20 games with Amarillo to finish the season, the player batted .212 with four home runs and 11 RBIs.

After the season, Lawlar was chosen to play in the Arizona Fall League for the Salt River Rafters. Unfortunately, he suffered a fractured left scapula when hit by a pitch from Baltimore Orioles prospect Nick Richmond, leading to a six-to-eight-week recovery period.

In the 2023 season, Lawlar started with the Amarillo Sod Poodles.

He is currently regarded as the 11th-best overall prospect in Major League Baseball and the second-best prospect in the Arizona Diamondbacks system, just behind outfielder Corbin Carroll.
