They might have started dating in 2012, but the racing couple only became Instagram official in 2013.
On March 18, 2013, Ashley shared a screenshot of her Skype call with Josef, captioning the post, “Skyping one of your favorite people doesn’t make home seem too far away.”
At the time, the couple was managing a long-distance relationship, with Ashley working in Tokyo. Four months after that post from Ashley, Josef traveled to Japan to meet his girlfriend.
Ashely took to her Instagram to share the picture of them wearing Japan flag-decorated masks announcing Josef’s arrival. The racer only stayed in Japan for a few weeks before returning to the States.
But he returned to the island nation during Christmas to celebrate the festival with his dear girlfriend.

After Ashley returned to the States, the couple continued dating. Ashley was starting to get pictured at several of Josef’s races.

2019 was one of the most memorable years for Josef. He became the Indy Series Champion for the second time in his career and married his long-time girlfriend.
Josef lifted the title in September at Laguna Seca, and a month later, he was already walking down the aisle.
The couple exchanged their vows in the presence of their families and friends in Nashville in an outdoor theme wedding ceremony.

Two years after their wedding, Ashley, on November 26, 2021, announced the news of her pregnancy.
A reasonably private couple, Ashley and Josef didn’t have any gender reveal party but did have a pregnancy photoshoot. A few weeks before giving birth to her child, Ashley wrote a heartfelt post directed toward all mothers.
On April 19, 2022, Ashley gave birth to the couple’s first child, a baby boy, Kota Nicolai Newgarden. The name Kota is of Japanese origin, meaning “Happiness” and “Good Fortune,”
It was a couple’s way of paying tribute to the country that has witnessed important phases of their lives. The couple took a family trip to Disneyland earlier this year in April.
