Joshua John Palacios, born July 30, 1995, is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates of the MLB.

Coming out of the High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology, the Cincinnati Reds selected Josh in the 31st round of the 2014 MLB draft.

However, he opted to play collegiate baseball for San Jacinto Junior College and later transferred to Auburn University.

The Toronto Blue Jays selected him in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB draft, and he was assigned to the minor league team.

After a few years of playing with the minor league teams, Palacios made his MLB debut for the Jays on April 9, 2021.

On April 15, 2022, the Washington National claimed the outfielder from the Blue Jays off of waivers.

The younger brother of Josh, Richard Jordan Palacios, is an American professional baseball second baseman and outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals of the MLB.

Born on May 16, 1997, in Brooklyn, New York, he attended Berkeley Caroll School and played college baseball at Towson University.

Palacios was drafted by the Cleveland Indians (Guardians) in the third round of the 2018 MLB draft, but he made his MLB debut only on April 25, 2022.

Before his MLB debut, he was assigned to different minor league teams.

Similarly, on June 16, 2023, the Guardians traded Palacios to the St. Louis Cardinals for cash considerations.

Siblings’ Rivalry And Achieving Dream

Born to a father of Puerto Rican descent and a mother from Curacao, the Palacios brothers grew up playing baseball, having a healthy rivalry.

They were up against each other for the first time in the big league on August 22, 2023.

Josh and Richie represented their respective teams, the Pirates and the Cardinals, and their parents were sitting in the stands at PNC Park.

However, Josh was the one who triumphantly announced that he’s the big brother, registering his career-high 5RBIs.

With this win, he earned the bragging rights between the Brooklyn-born brothers.

Moreover, the Palacios brothers face off marked only the third time in franchise history that a Pirates player homered in a game while his brother was on the opposing team.

Besides, the Palacios brothers faced each other earlier this season in the minor leagues.
