A 27-year-old sports reporter, Adan Manzano’s death comes just months after the passing of his wife, Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd, in a car accident in April 2024.
Adan Manzano, a sports reporter for Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports, passed away suddenly in New Orleans on February 6, 2025.
The Jefferson Parish coroner’s office reported that Adan died in a hotel in Kenner, Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans.
The Manzao family has been struck with yet another ordeal as his death comes just months after the passing of his wife. He is survived by their 2-year-old daughter, Eleanor.
Manzano was born in Mexico City and moved to Topeka, Kansas, in 2018. A graduate of Kansas State University, Manzano quickly made a name for himself in the sports journalism world.
He joined the Chiefs‘ television crew as a sideline reporter at the beginning of the 2024 season.
Adan Manzano was set to cover the Super Bowl 2025 for the third consecutive season, having previously been in Arizona and Las Vegas.
The sports reporter took immense pride in bringing the game of football to a Spanish-speaking audience. He once shared with NBC affiliate KSNT-TV:
The Kansas City Chiefs are growing so fast in Mexico City. Bringing that to the Spanish community because the Hispanic and Latinos – they’ve supported soccer culturally and historically, but there’s always a space where football can be the favorite sport. That’s why I think it’s important.
He was also a regular soccer reporter, covering Sporting Kansas City, Big 12 basketball, and the Kansas Jayhawks.
Telemundo Kansas City released a statement expressing their deep sorrow, writing:
Adan was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work. We will deeply miss Adan, his passion for sports, and the contributions he made to the local community.

The station also mentioned that they were cooperating with authorities as they investigate this tragic event.
While his autopsy has been completed, the cause of death is pending further testing results.
Sports Reporter Adan Manzano’s Wife, Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd, Was a Grade Teacher!
Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd, Adan Manzano’s wife, passed in a car accident in April 2024. The couple shared a young daughter, Eleanor, who is now left an orphan.
The couple welcomed their daughter, Eleanor, in December 2022.
In her obituary, she was remembered as “the most kindest, caring, beautiful person. Her sparkling personality was contagious and would light up any room she walked into. She was a ray of sunshine and always had a smile on her face.“
Ashleigh was a 2nd grade teacher at Topeka Public Schools USD 501 since July 24, 2023. Simultaneously, she was working at Sommerset Cafe.
She was a former assistant director at Peterson Planetarium at Emporia State University from 2019 until June 2022.
Like Manzano, she is also a graduate of Kansas State University. However, it is unknown if they crossed paths during their time at the university.
Ashleigh completed “elementary education” at Emporia State University.
Manzano’s final Facebook post shared just weeks before his death, featured a family photo with his late wife and daughter, celebrating Eleanor’s birthday.
