Born on April 27, 1992, Keenan is the son of Keith Allen (father) and Dorie Maynard-Lang (mother).

From early childhood, Keenan loved sports and even played football and basketball and ran track during high school.

As for his education, at first, Allen went to Grimsley High School but later transferred to Northern Guilford High School.

Even though he participated in most of the sports program, the only thing that made him visible in front of everyone was football and track and field.

In track & field, Keenan was a state qualifier in the long jump with the top jump of 7.01 meters.

After completing high school, Keenan enrolled at the University of Alabama and later transferred to the University of California to play football with his brother as a wide receiver.

During his pre-draft season, Allen noted that he was only at 80% health on the pro day.

This led him to change his diet plan and work out habits. He goes to the gym every day to maintain his solid body.

Keenan Allen | Career

College Career

As mentioned earlier, Allen’s journey as a football player started in college. He played for California Golden Bears for two years at the University of California.

In 2010, i.e., during Allen’s first year, he made 46 receptions and five touchdowns. Likewise, in 2011, Allen had his career high, 98 catches for 1343 yards.

He left California after his junior season with 205 passes for 2050 yards, which happened to be one of the third-highest passes in school football history.

NFL Career

For every football player, being a part of the NFL is a dream, and the same was for Keenan.

Unfortunately, he did not work out at NFL Scouting Combine because of a PCL sprain that he sustained during the 2012 season.

Despite a drop in projected draft position, San Diego Chargers picked Allen in the third round, 76th overall in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Allen signed a four-year $2.81 million deal with the Chargers on  May 9, 2013, but he was not given much playtime. Not being able to play made Allen disappointed, and he almost left football and went on to continue his studies.

Fortunately, he eventually started getting more play times, and on October 6, 2013, he had his first 100-yard games as a receiver in the NFL against the Oakland Raiders.

Similarly, he recorded nine catches for 107 yards and a touchdown in a win against the Indianapolis Colts the following week.

Keenan Allen | Injury & Comeback

Injuries

In the 2014 season, Allen couldn’t do much of wonder due to injury. That season he finished with only 77 receptions.

But in 2015, Allen came back with a bang, and in the very first week of the 2015 season, he broke the franchise record of Kelly Winslow.

But unfortunately, Allen was diagnosed with a kidney injury, and hence Allen finished that season with only 67 receptions.

Even though, Chargers extended their contract with Allen in 2016, he couldn’t play that season.

Allen still tried to do his best that season but couldn’t even stand until the first half of the match and was diagnosed with an ACL tear, which made him miss that whole season.

Most recently, in the 2022 season, Keenan left the game against the Raiders early because of a hamstring injury.

Comeback

Allen came back even more, stronger and more vital for the 2017 season; in the second week of that season, Keenan broke his personal best record.

Subsequently, in week twelve of that season, Chargers won the match against the Dallas Cowboys, and the game’s major player was Allen.

The same year, Keenan became the first football player in the history of the NFL to win three consecutive games of 10+ catches, 100+ receiving yards, and at least one touchdown.

Therefore, his exceptional performance made him win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award.

The 2018 and 2019 seasons were moderate for Allen. He did well, but not as much as he did in 2017. In 2020, the Chargers extended Allen’s stay with the team with a four-year contract.

Keenan Allen | Net Worth

As of November 2024, Keenan Allen has a net worth of $1.5 million.
