Kenneth Johnson-Gamble, a former professional basketball player currently serving as a coach and trainer, recently shared a post that gives a glimpse into his incredible 17-year journey.
What started as a simple shift in focus, from being a player to coaching, quickly evolved into something far bigger than he ever imagined.
From humble beginnings, his individual workouts became the foundation for a thriving basketball program that has impacted thousands of athletes worldwide.
He wrote:
“17 years ago i made a decision to change my course in Basketball. After allowing a few athletes to join my individual workouts and seeing the results of it. I created a demand for my workouts. So much so i decided to take a business approach to it.”

It all began when Kenneth realized that a few athletes joining his personal training sessions were seeing real results.
That spark of success led him to expand, and before long, he was in high demand.
His approach was to substitute teach in local schools, which helped him develop relationships with coaches, teachers, and principals, a move that would ultimately change his career.
It wasn’t long before Kenneth landed his first official client at Cypress Creek High School, thanks to the support of Principal Jim Wells and Coach Ron Thompson, who welcomed him into the program.
That summer, he was asked to start an AAU team, pulling together players from the high school program.
The team, which had struggled in previous seasons, finished tied for first in their district the following year. It was a game-changer.
As Kenneth’s reputation grew, he expanded his reach. He worked with thousands of athletes from around the world, teaching fundamental basketball skills and helping them earn college scholarships.
His business, Elevation Sports Academy, was established to provide top-tier player development, sports management, coaching, and athletic training.
But most importantly, Kenneth helped athletes enhance their understanding of the game and improve their overall skill set.
Kenneth’s college basketball journey began at Daleville High School, where he played for the school’s basketball team. He later attended Columbus State University from 1993 94, where he contributed to both the basketball and cross-country teams.
Ken further continued his basketball career at Southern Arkansas University, where he played for the men’s basketball team from 1998 to 2001.
His experience as a student coach at Southern Arkansas also helped shape his approach to coaching and player development.
From 2003 to 2008, Kenneth played professional basketball across Europe, Asia, and the United States.
His time on the court gave him invaluable insights into the game, and when he transitioned to coaching, he was armed with a unique understanding of what it takes to succeed at every level.
During this period, he also served as the Athletic Director for the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club from 2004 to 2006, further building his leadership and sports management skills.
Today, as the owner and head coach of Elevation Sports Academy and Ken Johnson Enterprises LLC, Kenneth continues to make a profound impact.
His training programs focus on skill development, basketball fundamentals, and physical fitness.
He’s been working with athletes at Cypress Creek High School for over 17 years, shaping the lives and careers of young players and helping them secure opportunities for scholarships and a future in basketball.
Kenneth Johnson-Gamble’s journey from player to coach, and from small individual workouts to a globally recognized basketball academy, shows the power of following a dream and staying committed to it.
His impact on the game and the lives of thousands of athletes continues to grow, and his story is a reminder that one person can make a world of difference.
