The Wildcat community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Richie Wells Jr., the team’s devoted athletic trainer, who tragically passed away on April 7th.

Richie Wells Jr. grew up just a few miles from Yankee Stadium, where his passion for baseball first took root.

He played at the college level, but after an injury changed his course, he found a new calling in sports medicine.

That journey eventually led him to the University of Kentucky, where he became an athletic trainer for the Wildcat baseball program.

Family And Friends Mourn The Loss Of Richie Wells

Jennifer Bereche, Richie Wells’s mother, expressed that her heart aches with the loss of her only son, and she struggles to find the strength to move forward.

The righteous man perishes, and no one takes it to heart; faithful and devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from disaster and evil. He enters into peace; they rest in their beds, each one who walked uprightly.
How do I go forward with your loss my heart aches, God help me find the strength to accept this loss. I love you Junior always and forever

Hearing of his passing at the young age of 26 left the team speechless. A part of them is now gone.

Meet Ritchie. Our hearts our broken to say good bye. He was a trusted partner in our team ar MELIA Realty Group at Keller Williams Bluegrass for a year and brought ao much life, energy, laughter, humor and the love of “food, wine and cars” into our lives. If you knew him you knew he loved BIG, never knew a stranger and was always up for a challenge if it could make a difference.
And he Sure loved his car, loved his family and friends and always hustled to chase after his dreams. He moved to Atlanta last Fall to chase his dreams and we supported that decision 💯. Got him connected with KW there as well.
So to hear that he is gone at a young age of 26 leaves our team speechless. A part of us is gone.
It’s a great, and painful, reminder that we all get 60 minutes per hour, and 24 hours per day. No one gets more minutes or hours per day…. it’s just that some of us get more days. So Don’t Waste Your Days! Remember there Is no guarantee that what you put off today saying, doing, achieving or living out your best life will jabe the opportunity to do it tomorrow
Ritchie lived a great full life amd we are forever grateful foe all the memories we got to share with him. Rest in peace dear friend and partner. God has a PLACE for you in His heavenly home.
