Landry was born to Steve Fields and Janice fields in Long Beach, California, on June 27, 1988.

Fields first began his early schooling at Ellwood P. Cubberley Elementary school and then at Los Alamitos High School.

During his junior and senior high school years, he was a three-year letter winner on the varsity basketball team.

Landry began his education at Los Alamitos High School, located in his hometown, and was rewarded with several distinctions during his high school years.

Fields was a top-five high school record holder and one of the dedicated players that helped his team to the CIF Southern Section Division 1-AA title.

After successfully finishing his high school education, he enrolled at Stanford University to pursue his college studies.

Furthermore, Landry participated in 30 games during his freshman season, and in his sophomore year, he had a similar role and output as he had in his rookie year.

During his junior season, Landry appeared in 33 games, competing against several formidable teams and leading his team to numerous wins.

Fields had a fantastic year in his senior year, earning the first-team All-Pac-10, USBWA All-District IX Team, and Pac-10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors.

Landry declared for the 2010 NBA draft following his collegiate eligibility and began his professional basketball career.

Landry Fields started his professional basketball career after being selected with the 39th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks.

Landry spent two seasons with the Knicks, making his debut in July 2010.

Landry was also picked to play for Team Shaq and was a member of the New York team that won the Shooting Stars tournament.

After the end of the contract with the Knicks, Landry signed a three-year deal with Toronto Raptors with a $20 million sheet in 2012.
