Growing up with such a renowned father, Lenny had big shoes to fill. But he showed a firm commitment to following in his father’s footsteps.

He started riding on two wheels at a tender age and quickly displayed exceptional talent on the bike.

However, life took an unexpected turn for Lenny when his parents, Miguel and his mother, went through a divorce during his teenage years.

Reportedly, Lenny was forced to stop cycling following his parents’ divorce. He even moved to Montauroux with his mother.

This tumultuous period undoubtedly posed emotional challenges for the young cyclist. It also added a layer of complexity to Lenny’s journey as an aspiring cyclist.

Despite the setback, he returned to his paternal family and got back on the bike at 14 years of age.

Lenny continued pursuing his passion for cycling, and his determination to succeed grew stronger.

Cycling Legacy

His father’s remarkable achievements undoubtedly shaped Lenny Martinez’s upbringing.

Many cycling enthusiasts might not know that the cycling legacy of the Martinez family extends beyond the two generations.

Lenny’s grandfather, Mariano Martinez, was a great cyclist. Born in Burgos, Spain, he became a naturalized French citizen in 1963.

Mariano became a tutor for young Lenny as Miguel was often abroad to pursue his career as a professional mountain biker.

Lenny’s uncle, Yannick Martinez, is also a road and cyclo-cross cyclist. He currently rides for the French amateur team Guidon Chalettois.

It was evident that Lenny was destined to continue the family tradition and make a name for himself in the cycling world.
