Young hockey star Corissa Duck faces surgery after brain tumor discovery. The community rallies around and offers support.

Corissa Duck, a talented young hockey player from Melbourne, recently received devastating news that has put her athletic dreams on hold.

Just days before she was set to attend a hockey camp and begin her journey at Lovell Academy in Massachusetts, Corissa began experiencing persistent headaches and nausea.

Concerned, her mother, Stephanie Duck, took her to the doctor. After an initial examination, Corissa was quickly transferred to a specialty hospital for further testing.

Doctors performed scans and discovered a tumor located at the back of Corissa’s brain on her cerebellum, with indications that the tumor had already spread to her neck and spine.

The severity of the diagnosis requires immediate surgical intervention, which is scheduled to take place this week.

Following surgery, doctors will conduct further tests to determine Corissa’s long-term treatment plan and next steps toward recovery.

Corissa’s diagnosis comes at a heartbreaking time. She had been preparing to attend Lovell Academy next month to pursue both her academics and her hockey ambitions.

Known in her community as a determined and gifted athlete, Corissa had aspirations of playing Division I hockey and was on a promising path toward achieving those goals.

However, doctors have made it clear that she will not be returning to the ice anytime soon. For now, her focus must shift entirely to her health and recovery.

The news has sent shockwaves through Corissa’s hockey community and beyond.

Friends, teammates, and supporters have come together to offer emotional and financial support.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help ease the financial strain on the Duck family, as Stephanie will soon need to step away from work to care for Corissa full-time.

Community members and friends like Olivia Green, Nicole Lauer, and Shannon Harris have shared heartfelt messages urging others to donate and pray for Corissa’s recovery.

Their messages reflect not only the heartbreak of the situation but also the resilience and hope surrounding Corissa’s fight.

Though the road ahead will be long and uncertain, Corissa’s spirit and the unwavering support of her community stand as a powerful reminder that she is not facing this battle alone.

Those who know her remain confident that, in time, she will return to the ice stronger than ever.

For now, prayers, donations, and encouragement are the greatest gifts anyone can offer to Corissa and her family.
