Early Life & Family

Lucas Gordon was born on February 13, 2002, in Los Angeles, California, to parents Jeff Gordan and Stephanie Gloria. 

Growing up in California was a pretty chill and enjoyable experience for Lucas. The beach was five minutes away from where his family resided.

As a result, the majority of his friends from the valley would frequently visit Santa Monica, where he lived, and they would often visit the beach together. 

Lucas has said that his father has been a big part of his early success, both on and off the field. When asked about inspiration in his life, Gordon responded, “My dad.”

High School Career

For his high school education, Lucas Gordon attended Notre Dame High School. At Notre Dame, he was the first baseman and pitcher and played under the head coach Tom Dill.

He was selected as the Mission League MVP for 2019. The player had a 5-1 record with a 1.39 ERA in 45.1 innings pitched as a junior, striking out 56 batters.

Lucas had seven doubles and two triples while hitting .366. He competed in the 2019 Cleveland High School MLB All-Star Game.

He made the 20-person roster for the 2019 National Team and won the silver medal in Gijang, South Korea, in the U-18 Baseball World Cup.

However, Lucas could not play during his senior year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

College Career

Gordon decided to play baseball at the University of Texas at Austin after a standout high school career. What really pulled Lucas to the University of Texas was the city in general. 

Lucas finds Austin incredibly diverse, kind of like Los Angeles. Additionally, the campus is magnificent, and the amenities are unmatched.

Moreover, the player also wanted to have a shot at the College World Series Championship and experience a little bit of Omaha.

Freshman Year

During the first season, Lucas pitched in 19 games with one start. He finished it with 21.2 innings pitched, a 3.32 ERA, and one save. The player also struck out 19 hitters and limited opponents’ batting average to .197.

Likewise, Lucas had five straight scoreless appearances in March and early April of 2021, pitching 6.2 innings without allowing a run.

Against Nevada, Lucas pitched a perfect inning of relief with just one strikeout to secure the win (4/14).

The player threw three scoreless innings in his first career start, striking out two batters while allowing just one hit.

Lucas had a second 9.1-inning stretch of seven straight scoreless innings from late April to early May 2021.

Sophomore Year

Lucas struck out his career-high 11 batters against Oklahoma State on May 1, 2022.

The player pitched six innings with one earned run and seven strikeouts against Texas Tech on March 27.

He pitched five innings with five strikeouts in his first start of the year against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on February 23.

Lucas had a season-high pitching seven shutout innings with four strikeouts against Incarnate Word on March 20.

Falmouth Commodores

Gordon played the 2021 collegiate summer baseball with the Falmouth Commodores based in Falmouth, Massachusetts. 

If you are not familiar with the Commodores, Falmouth Commodores is a group that competes in the league’s West Division as a member of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). 

The player joined the Commodores on July 3, 2021, and contributed significantly to the Commodores’ bullpen.
