A Philippines-born British rugby player, Marcus Sebastian Smith, is a fly-half for the Premiership Rugby club Harlequins (2017- present).

His childhood passion for gridiron football began to take serious turns after he got a sports scholarship at Brighton College.

Subsequently, Smith became part of the Harlequin Academy in 2016. Then, on September 2, 2017, the ruby football player made his professional debut for the Harlequins.

Internationally, he has represented England in the youth squads (U-16, U-18 and U-20 squad) and senior team.

In the England Rugby team, Marcus plays alongside Joe Marler, Courtney Lawes, Lewis Ludlam, Tom Curry, and Owen Farrell, to name a few.

On the other, his mother, Suzanne, who is now a full-time mom, once worked as a Cathay Pacific air hostess.

Later, she became a stylist and ran her salon from 2004 to 2008. She also worked as a freelance interior design consultant.

Suzanne is a 1989 graduate of the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines with a BA in Marketing Management. Then, she moved to Brighton and studied interior design at Brighton Metropolitan College.

It goes without saying that Smith’s parents are his avid supporters. During his formative years, they would even travel overseas to see his rugby games.

Marcus Has Two Younger Siblings

Smith is the eldest of three children of his parents. He has two younger brothers: Luc Smith (b. November 8, 2000) and Tomas Smith (b. August 17, 2002).

All three Smith brothers attended Brighton College.

Luc Smith graduated from Brighton in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Then, he enrolled at Imperial College London and obtained a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

The youngest one, Tomas, completed his business studies at Brighton College in 2020.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he is pursuing a degree in business, management, marketing, and related support services at the University of Exeter (2020- 2024).

Luc and Tomas are also co-founders of the clothing brand Kalabaw Global.
