College basketball star Mark Sears and his parents have appeared on several sports media channels and have already gained attention on social media. If Mark is getting the attention for his basketball skills then his parents are getting it for their unceasing support.

Sears began his basketball journey at Muscle Shoals High School in Alabama before joining Ohio University in 2020.

Across two seasons at Ohio, Sears played 59 games in two seasons and scored 884 career points.

As a sophomore, Sear was also nominated for the Lou Henson Award as he finished the year averaging 19.7 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.

Despite a strong second season, Sears committed to the Crimson Tide in 2022. The youngster said he had always dreamt of playing for Alabama and didn’t want to miss out on playing for them.

In his first season with Alabama, Sears played and started 37 games and averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.

In the current season, the youngster has averaged 18 points, three assists, and five assists, a fall from last season, but he remains a valuable asset for the side.

The Alabama star was listed at 5’10 at the 2024 NBA Combine and later withdrew from the 2024 NBA Draft.

It is clear that if the point guard declares for the 2025 NBA Draft, he won’t be one of the lottery picks. Nonetheless, the youngster remains positive about becoming a solid NBA star one day.

Mark Sears’ Parents Have Been Very Supportive Of His Basketball Career!

Mark Sears’ parents, Chad and Lameka Sears, previously shared about their profession in an interview with The Next Round.

The point guard’s dad, Chad Sears, previously played football and basketball at Russellville High, and he later joined the University of North Alabama.

Sears Sr. joined UNA Lions in 1995 but played between 1997-2000. Chad had walked back on playing in 1996 and re-joined the team in 1997.

In 2002, he signed with the Buffalo Bills and was assigned to NFL Europe’s Amsterdam Admirals.

However, Chad injured his back during the practice session and decided not to pursue a career as a football player.

The former footballer returned to college, completed his degree, and started serving in the Russellville Parks and Recreation Director position in 2006.

He served in that position until 2022, and in 2024, while speaking to The Next Round, the interviewer introduced him as a fourth-grade teacher.

The interviewer also introduced Lameka as a traveling nurse who worked rigorously to save lives during COVID-19.

When asked how their professions impacted their son, Lameka said it made him a compassionate and caring person.

Lameka also said Chad’s teaching background helped their son stay disciplined and have a high work ethic.

In March 2024, the Bleacher Report shared a video of Lameka doing the routine from the stands, being the loudest parent possible, as Alabama competed in the March Madness.

The free throw routine started when Mark was three.

In her interview with The Next Round, Lameka shared that when Mark was a kid, she would allude that he was trying to get a cookie from the cookie jar and motion him how to do it.
