Early Career 

The 37-year-old Hockey defenceman started playing Hockey at a very early age. He started his career by joining his hometown team Calgary Northstars AAA of the AMHL hockey league. 

He played two seasons with the team, starting his first season in 2001. In addition, he played 11 games for the team in the first season, scoring only one goal and two points.

Robinson continued to play for the Northstars, scoring 10 goals and making 23 points in 32 games.

Later he joined the Calgary Royals of the AJHL league, where he played for two seasons. In his 1st season with the team, he played for 53 games, scored only 4 games but made 23 points.

Similarly, Robinson played 38 games in his last season with the team and scored 11 goals, and made 26 points.

Then he joined the University of Alaska Anchorage and played four seasons with the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves of NCAA Division I college.

Robinson led all UAA defencemen, scoring in his final season, and became the Seawolves’ captain.

Furthermore, he graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences.

In the same 2008-09 season, he signed with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL hockey league.

Professional Career

After graduation, Robinson joined Las Vegas Wranglers and played in the ECHL league at the end of the 2008-09 season.

Then Robinson got an invitation to the Ottawa Senators rookie camp. He made the Senators’ main training camp roster to start his professional career.

Later, he was assigned to Binghamton Senators affiliate to Ottawa’s American Hockey League. Hence, he split the season playing for Binghamton and the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

Subsequently, Robinson decided to move to Europe to grow his career after the 2009-10 season. He signed with the Norwegian club Sparta Warriors. Robinson had a good season with the club, scoring 14 goals and 43 points in 45 games.

Afterward, Robinson moved to the Swedish league and joined Timra IK, where he played for two seasons. In two seasons with the team, he played 110 games, scoring only 11 goals and 43 points.

KHL (Kontinental Hockey League)

Subsequently, Robinson signed with the Latvian club Dinamo Riga of the KHL in 2013. He had an impressive debut season, scoring 10 goals and 27 points in 54 games.

Following his impressive season with Dinamo, Robinson was signed to a lucrative two-year contract with Dynamo Moscow of the KHL on May 3, 2014.

Subsequently, he went on to play with Dynamo for three seasons. After his third season, Robinson was granted free agent status despite still being under the contract due to the club’s debt.

He had the best plus/minus of the KHL in the 2015-16 season. In addition, he became Defenseman of the Month two times and Defenseman of the Week two times.

Hence, Robinson left the club after Dynamo didn’t offer an improved contract and later signed a two-year contract with CSKA Moscow on July 5, 2017.
