Recently fired Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus previously revealed his wife, Kelly Eberflus, was the first to know of his appointment in 2022. The latest firing was a big blow to the Eberflus family, who were excited to see Matt take up his first head coach role.
Before becoming a coach, the Toledo native played football at the University of Toledo. The linebacker earned the First Team All-MAC honors during his junior and senior years.
After graduating, Matt started working as a recruiting coordinator and outside linebackers coach.
He stayed with Toledo until 2000 and later joined the University of Missouri as their defensive coordinator. Matt also worked as their associate head coach between 2006-2008.
In 2009, Matt got his first call to take up the role of an NFL coach. Eberflus was named the Browns’ linebackers coach for two seasons.
He moved to Dallas in 2011 and worked with the Cowboys until 2017 before he joined the Colts.
Eberflus worked as the Colts defensive coordinator for four seasons before he got his first head coach role with the Bears in 2022.
After three poor seasons, the Bears front office fired Eberflus on Thanksgiving after the team lost 23-20 loss to the Lions. There are rumors that Eberflus might land the head coach position with the Cowboys in 2025.

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, it was revealed that the former Chicago head coach reads the Bible in the morning and sends scripture passages to his mom and siblings every day.
In their joint interview with the Colts, Kelly said Matt didn’t want to get into coaching early in his career.
He slowly fell in love with the game while he worked as a graduate assistant at Toledo and enjoyed working with Gary Pinkel, then head coach at Toledo.
Previously, Kelly used to be available on Twitter but now her account is unavailable.
It could be because she called out an Indianapolis Colts’ water girl on Twitter for spreading COVID-19.
The comment didn’t sit well with the fans and some even called her a “Karen.”

Matt would even turn into a princess for his two girls so they could all play the Lion King.
The football coach revealed that his youngest daughter, Giada, had asked him if he ever wanted a son who could play football.
Matt always had one answer for it, “I’m happy with what I got.”
With both his girls interested in competitive dancing, Matt said he has picked up on what makes a good performance.
The girls said their dad motivates them with powerful words, and laziness is something he doesn’t accept in the household.
The football coach and his family love to attend country artists’ concerts.
