Michael Schumacher’s brother Ralf Schumacher and stepbrother Sebastian Stahl are former racers. Currently, Ralf works as a commentator, and Sebastian is active in Sim Racing.
The iconic sibling pair of Michael and Ralf Schumacher almost didn’t happen. Their father, Rolf, didn’t expect both his sons to become successful in the racing world. He even told Ralf to learn to cook or take over their family business.
But in the end, Ralf became an F1 driver and earned 27 podiums. Ralf might not have reached his brother’s level, something that only a few have ever been able to emulate in Formula One.
Sebastian started racing before he met Michael but has always called his older stepbrother his idol. Since Michael’s 2013 accident, the Schumacher family hasn’t talked much about him in the media.
But the family came together for the 2021 Netflix documentary “Schumacher” including his son, Mick Schumacher, currently a reserve driver for Mercedes.
Michael Schumacher Brothers
Michael Schumacher’s brother, Ralf Schumacher, and stepbrother Sebastian Stahl followed in his footsteps, as they entered the racing world after him.
The seven-time World Champion is six years older than Ralf and nine years older than Sebastian. Both the brothers have talked about Michael’s influence on their racing careers.
Ralf Schumacher Remains Active In F1 Scene
Michael and Ralf Schumacher are the only sibling pair to have won F1 races. Sebastian began racing at age three and won the German Junior Kart Championship at 17.
He began testing for Formula 3 teams the same year and debuted in the German Formula Three Championship in 1994. Two years later, Ralf secured a seat in Formula Nippon Series and won the series on the first attempt.
His F1 journey began in 1997 with Jordan Grand Prix. But after two years, he joined Williams, where he spent the majority of his career. Ralf retired from his career with Toyota after the 2007 season.
In his decade-long career in F1, Ralf secured 27 podiums, finishing first six times, with his last one being in 2003 in French Grand Prix. That year Ralf also finished first in European Grand Prix.
Ralf currently works as a co-commentator for Sky Sports in Germany. He is available on Instagram with the username @ralfschumacher_rsc and shares his everyday life with his 136k followers.
Ralf was previously married to Cora Schumacher, with whom he shares a son named David. The couple separated in 2015 after 14 years of marriage.
Earlier this month, Cora made headlines by revealing she was joining the notorious website OnlyFans. She was also featured in the show Celebrity Big Brother in Germany.
Sebastian Stahl Survived A Plane Crash
In 2015, Sebastian Stahl made headlines as he revealed he was supposed to be one of the passengers on flight 4U9525.
The same airplane crashed into the French Alps, leaving all 150 passengers dead. As the crew decided to delay the flight, Sebastian took another flight to reach his destination a day earlier.
Sebastian began his racing career in 2001 in the New Beetle Cup in Germany. Unlike his brothers, Sebastian wasn’t able to compete in the F1. One of his last races came in 2014 in the SEAT Leon Eurocup.
In 2021, Sebastian took part in the DAS Sim Racing Duel against Danny Giusa. He is the brand ambassador for CUPRA.
Sebastian is available on Instagram on Instagram with the username @stahl.sebastian and continues to share a few pictures from the racetracks.
Michael Schumacher Parents, Rolf, And Elisabeth Schumacher
Michael Schumacher is the oldest son of parents Rolf and Elisabeth Schumacher.
His parents ran a local kart track, which led to Michael becoming interested in racing. Despite not having the best financial condition, Rolf and Elisabeth supported their son’s racing dreams.
And in the upcoming years, their son started to return the favor to them. Despite their separation, Elisabeth and Rolf would be seen at the race tracks rooting for their two sons.
Michael’s mother, Elisabeth, passed away in 2003 after falling at her home, leading to severe internal bleeding. The accident took place only a day before the San Marino Grand Prix.
The two brothers booked a private jet to visit their mother and returned for their races. Elisabeth took her last breath a few hours after Michael and Ralf left her side. Michael went on to win the race, with Ralf taking the fourth position.
Since Michael’s 2013 accident, Rolf has maintained his silence on his son’s health condition. In 2021, Rolf appeared in the Netflix documentary “Schumacher” alongside son Ralf, grandson Mick, and daughter-in-law Corinna.
