His football journey began as a strong safety at Eastern Washington, where he played from 1995 to 1998.
After completing his college football career, Lake entered the coaching realm as a graduate assistant at Eastern Washington in 1999.

Jimmy Lake Wife, Michele Lake
The veteran football coach, Jimmy Lake, has been married to his wife, Michele, for several decades.
Their love story began when Jimmy stayed connected with a girl he had met in a ninth-grade “life choices” class.
Despite not dating initially, they maintained a strong friendship throughout the years.
After their college graduations, when they coincidentally encountered each other in downtown Spokane, they both realized they were destined to be together for the rest of their lives.
Jimmy and Michele, now proud parents, have three children: Jimmy Jr., Faith, and Bronson.
Despite the notable public presence of her husband, Jimmy Lake, Michele remains a figure shrouded in privacy, with limited information available about her personal life.
Deliberately choosing to keep a low profile, Michele seems to navigate away from the public eye, steering clear of the attention and limelight associated with her husband’s fame.
Atlanta Falcons New Defensive Coordinator
On Monday, the Atlanta Falcons revealed the appointment of Jimmy Lake, the former assistant head coach of the Rams, as their defensive coordinator.
Lake is joined by Zac Robinson, the new offensive coordinator, who also transitioned from the Rams, where he held the positions of quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.
This marks a reunion with the recently appointed Falcons head coach, Raheem Morris, who moved from the Rams last week.
Morris had been serving as the Rams’ defensive coordinator since 2021.
Prior to his role with the Falcons, Lake served as the head coach at the University of Washington.
Before that, he held various assistant positions for six seasons, including a stint as defensive coordinator for two seasons in 2018-19.
In addition to these developments, the Falcons officially confirmed the retention of special teams coordinator Marquice Williams on Monday.
