The tragic passing of Aidan Foster, a beloved student-athlete from Midland Trail High School, has left his family, teammates, school, and the tight-knit community of Belva, West Virginia, in profound grief.

Aidan Foster, who wore jersey #4 for the Midland Trail Patriots football team, was more than just a player on the field, he was a presence in the program, a dedicated baseball player, and a young man known for his pride in representing his school and community.

Born to parents Brooke Wheeler and Shane Foster, Aidan grew up in Belva alongside his siblings Cameron and Elysia.

He was surrounded by a loving family, including grandparents and relatives who cherished him deeply.

On January 6, 2026, Midland Trail Football shared a heartfelt announcement that captured the depth of the loss:

“Tonight, our football family, school and community is hurting. Today we lost one of our own — a teammate, a brother, a young man who wore our colors with pride. In a small school and a close community like ours, this loss reaches far beyond the football field. It touches every locker, every classroom, every home, every heart.”

The statement continued, showing the brotherhood that defined the team:

“As coaches, we talk a lot about family. About brotherhood. About being there for one another on and off the field. Today, that word family carries more weight than ever. Our hearts are broken, but we stand together — players, coaches, teachers, classmates, and community — just as we have always taught these young men to do. He was more than a football player. He was a presence in our program, a part of our story, and he will forever be part of who we are. His memory will live on in our huddle, in our traditions, and in the way we continue to love and support one another.”

The team urged the community to keep Aidan’s family, friends, and teammates in their prayers during this heartbreaking time.

“Please hug your kids a little tighter tonight. Tell the people around you that you love them. We are one team. One family. And we will walk through this together. Not a day went by that we didn’t tell our kids we love them….Aidan, we love you.”

Aidan’s aunt, Morgan Stover, shared how heartbroken the family feels in her own message:

“Our family suffered an unimaginable loss this morning. My momma has her arms around our sweet Aidan Scott, in Heaven, and that is the only peace we have right now. Please pray for my sister, my niece, nephew, and everyone who knew and loved him in the days to come. Thank you to everyone who has reached out today to provide support and encouragement. It’s appreciated more than you know.”

His legacy as a teammate, brother, and friend will endure in the hearts of those who knew him, serving as a reminder to cherish every moment and hold loved ones close.
