Joseph Gingras, a promising 21-year-old defensive back for the Université de Montréal Carabins football team, tragically passed away on the night of August 5, 2025.

The cause of his death remains under investigation, but early reports suggest that speed may have been a factor in a fatal car accident near Sainte-Madeleine, Quebec.

In a fatal accident, his car collided with a semi-trailer parked at a rest area along Highway 20.

The car caught fire, and Joseph was trapped under the truck, sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed may have been a factor in the incident, though investigations are ongoing.

His untimely passing has sent waves of grief through his family, friends, and teammates.

Joseph Gingras’ Parents and the Entire Community are Mourning the Heartbreaking Loss!

Joseph was set to begin his first training camp with the Carabins later that week, following a distinguished collegiate career with the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe Lauréats.

Originally from Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Gingras had recently completed a four-year collegiate career with the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe Lauréats.

Throughout his time with the team, he helped lead them to two Division II Bol d’Or titles.

His head coach, Sébastien Deschamps, spoke highly of Joseph’s relentless work ethic and natural ability, saying:

He was an outstanding worker. He had natural, innate abilities, but I don’t think I’ve known anyone in my career who worked as hard as he did. He has become an exceptional athlete.

Joseph’s determination to succeed didn’t stop with college football; he had dreams of reaching the professional ranks.

He was gearing up to begin his first training camp with the Carabins when his life was tragically cut short.

Carabin’s head coach Marco Iadeluca expressed his sadness, saying,

“Joseph was a determined young man with an impeccable work ethic. We will never forget his time with us.”

The news of Joseph Gingras’ tragic death has resonated deeply with his teammates, coaches, and the wider football community.

Sébastien Deschamps, who recruited Joseph five years ago from high school, expressed his heartbreak:

He was a guy who had a great zest for life, who set an example for the younger players with his work ethic. It’s difficult for everyone.

Joseph Gingras will be remembered not only for his achievements on the field but for the vibrant spirit and leadership he brought to every team.

His dream of reaching the professional ranks may have been cut short, but his legacy will continue to inspire future athletes.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Joseph Gingras’ parents, extended family, friends, and well-wishers.

Rest In Peace, Beautiful Soul!
