Dakota Welch was a dedicated defensive player for the Morris Community High School varsity soccer team.
A member of the Class of 2027, Dakota earned recognition for his work ethic, consistency, and commitment to improving on the field.
As a defender, he brought focus and determination to every match, contributing to his team’s defensive structure and maintaining composure under pressure.
Throughout the 2025 season, Dakota appeared in eight games, recording multiple steals and shots while continuing to strengthen his skills in one-on-one defending and field positioning.
Football Player Dakota Welch Passed Away, Leaving Everyone Devastated
Morris Community High School’s football player, Dakota Welch, died on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the age of 17.
However, the cause of death has not been revealed yet.
Connor Erickson from Morris, Illinois, took to his official Facebook handle to announce the tragic news. He wrote,
This is a post that i never thought id ever have to make. Today, with great sadness, we mourn the loss of Dakota Welch. it’ s a tragedy that never should’ve unfolded. I pray for Dakotas Family and Friends, the first responders, and anyone else who witnessed it. To those affected by this, Im sorry for your loss. Long Live Dakota
