Renée Lapointe’s death has left a community grieving the loss of a young woman whose talent, dedication, and kindness shaped the lives of many.

Friends and family confirmed the passing of Renée Sarah Lapointe, remembering her as a bright presence who brought energy and compassion into every space she entered.

From a young age, Renée stood out as a driven and versatile individual, earning admiration not only for what she achieved but for how she treated others along the way.

Renée built a remarkable athletic record as a multi-sport competitor.

She excelled in soccer, basketball, and tennis, and she earned numerous local honors, including multiple Potato Blossom pageant titles.

Her commitment to discipline and teamwork showed through each sport she played, and younger athletes often looked to her as an example of focus and perseverance.

Dance remained one of Renée’s deepest passions. She trained for more than 16 years at The Maine Dance Academy, where she studied pointe, tumbling, and performance.

As an all-around entertainer, she also developed strong vocal skills and delivered many memorable performances over the years.

Those who trained alongside her recall her work ethic and her willingness to encourage others, especially younger dancers who admired her confidence on stage.

Renée balanced her creative and athletic pursuits with a strong commitment to education and work.

During high school, she managed demanding academics while participating in extracurricular activities and holding jobs at Tasty Food, Borderview, and the Van Buren Recreation Department.

Through her own determination, she saved enough to buy her first car at just 16 years old.

Later, while attending college and up until her passing, she worked as a server at Texas Roadhouse, where coworkers remember her as dependable and warm.

Academically, Renée consistently achieved at the highest level.

She served as a member and president of the Honor Society, ranked among the top three students in her graduating class at Van Buren Secondary School, and began college at only 17.

She graduated from the University of Maine last spring, marking another milestone earned through persistence and focus.

In recent years, Renée faced mental health challenges that she often carried quietly.

Like many young people, she fought struggles that were not always visible to those around her.

Her loved ones emphasize that she was deeply cherished and that her passing has created an immeasurable sense of loss across the community.

Following Renée Lapointe’s death, supporters launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist her family with funeral and burial expenses.

Organizers encourage community members to contribute if they are able or to share the campaign and keep the family in their thoughts and prayers.

Tributes continue to pour in from friends, classmates, and teammates.

Naomie Pelletier shared a heartfelt message, recalling the joy Renée brought into her closest friends’ lives and describing her as someone others could truly look up to.

Messages like these reflect the lasting impact Renée made through her kindness, talent, and authenticity.

As the community mourns, many have emphasized the importance of compassion and mental health support.
