Joel Embiid was unable to play in the first game of the Conference semifinals against the Boston Celtics due to a knee sprain he suffered.
The game took place on May 1, 2023, and the 76ers emerged victorious with a score of 119-115, with James Harden scoring 45 points.
According to sources, it is likely that Embiid will also miss the second game of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The injury occurred during Game 3 of the Sixers’ first-round series against the Brooklyn Nets when he contested a shot by Cameron Johnson and landed awkwardly alongside the Nets forward.
Despite the injury, he continued to play for the remainder of that game.
Following a medical examination, doctors determined that Embiid had sprained his right knee’s LCL.
