Mya Powell suffers from a medical condition named Microdeletion syndrome. It is the cognitional disability that affects mental and physical growth.

Similarly, a microdeletion syndrome is caused by a chromosomal loss spanning many genes.

It is a condition in which speech and motor abilities, such as walking, are significantly delayed.

Mya Powell has had poor muscle tone, feeding difficulties, and respiratory issues since birth.

Due to this condition, Powell has a narrow forehead, widely spread eyes, an open mouth with an outward-pointing upper lip, a high arch in the roof of the mouth, a tiny lower jaw, and a lack of facial expression.

The condition is not inherited but is caused due to the deletion of a chromosome during the production of reproductive cells or early fetal development.

As a result, despite the growing age of Mya Powell, her intelligence is limited to that of seven years only.

Repairment surgery can correct the physical impact of this condition, but it takes a lot of treatment to cure it.
