The Windermere High School has announced Ken Janata as its new head coach, marking the first time in Windermere High softball history that someone other than Eileen Hannigan will lead the team.

Janata steps into a prestigious role following Hannigan’s successful eight-year tenure, which included four district titles and a regional championship in 2024.

He brings experience from his recent stint as head coach at Lyman High School, where he led the Lady Greyhounds for two seasons.

Before that, he was an assistant at Montverde Academy, helping the Eagles secure a Class 3A, Region 2 championship in 2023. His background in developing competitive programs makes him a strong fit for Windermere’s tradition of excellence.

Furthermore, Hannigan’s departure marks the end of an era in Windermere High. She leaves for Lake Brantley High after compiling a 135-56 record and never suffering a losing season.

Janata aims to rebuild momentum and continue Windermere’s winning tradition with a proven track record and a fresh perspective.

Ken Janata’s Wife, Nancy Fry Janata, Is A supportive Partner

Nancy Fry Janata, the daughter of Gene Fry and Margaret L. Fry, is a dedicated professional and loving family woman.

She grew up in a close-knit household alongside her siblings, David Fry, Earl Garcia, and David Garcia.

Gene Fry was a decorated World War II veteran who served in the European Theater before building a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry.

He started as a salesman at Johnson Drug Co. in 1955 and rose to become CEO and president before retiring in 1990. His strong work ethic and leadership influenced Nancy’s career path.

She attended Winter Haven Senior High School and later earned a BA in Journalism from the University of Central Florida.

Her professional achievements include securing a key consulting role with a pharmaceutical company in 2016.

Beyond her career, Nancy is a steadfast supporter of her husband’s coaching journey. They have two children, Jacob and Sutton Janata.

The married couple often shares glimpses of their personal and professional lives on social media. It highlights their mutual encouragement and strong partnership.

Ken Janata Instilled Athleticism in His Two Children

Ken Janata had previously transitioned from being an outside sales representative to a stay-at-home dad.

He took on childcare and became a coach, mentor, and driving force behind his children’s athletic development.

After his wife, Nancy, secured a high-paying consulting role in the pharmaceutical industry, the couple reevaluated their priorities.

Ken stepped in rather than spending on a nanny and dedicated himself to raising their son and daughter while occasionally working as a substitute teacher.

However, his commitment went beyond typical parenting duties. He immersed himself in his children’s sports, coaching his son’s Little League team and his daughter’s softball team.

Their weekends were filled with tournaments and practices that shaped their skills and their love for the game.

It’s not easy. It’s stressful, it’s a job. You think, ‘OK, they’re at school for six hours; that should be time to relax,’ but it’s not. You’ve got to clean up, run errands, and get dinner ready. It’s not like you’re sitting on your butt.

His kids thrived under his guidance, appreciating his presence until one day, his daughter innocently asked him, “When are you going back to work?

The question made him chuckle, but also reinforced how naturally they had adapted to his role in their lives.
