Professional racer William Byron’s parents, Bill and Dana, are over the moon with his recent achievement, claiming his second straight Daytona 500 win.
William Byron, the youngest of two children, was born to parents Bill and Dana Byron on November 29, 1997.
Bill and Dana are on cloud nine with their son’s latest win, securing his second consecutive Daytona 500 victory on February 17, 2025.
His mother proudly shared posts on Instagram celebrating his victory. Meanwhile, his father, who prefers to stay out of the spotlight, quietly celebrated his win away from the public eye.
William Byron’s Parents, Bill and Dana, Have Been Married for Over Three Decades!
Bill and Dana Byron have been married for 34 years. The longtime married couple walked down the aisle on April 12, 1992.
On their 30th wedding anniversary, Dana wrote a lengthy caption expressing her heartfelt tribute and gratitude to Bill for being her rock during the darkest days of her life.
She emphasized the vows taken during their wedding anniversary, pledging to stay together irrespective of the situation, and how Bill stood on the tests, standing by her side at all times.
When we got married 30 years ago today, we vowed to stay together for better for worse and in sickness and in health…Those words took on a whole new meaning when I was rushed to the hospital on our anniversary one year ago with what ended up being a malignant brain tumor.
“This man was by my side the entire time making sure I got the best care, sat by me during 3 hospitalizations, drove me to my radiation and doctor’s appointments, all while keeping his business going and everything else that life involves,” Dana added.
Dana also praised him as an incredible father to their kids: “Bill has been an incredible father with too many good traits to list. I am blessed to call him my husband. I love you, Bill, and thank you for 30 wonderful years.”
His mother, Dana, graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Columbia University. However, details surrounding his father’s profession remain unknown.
Dana is active on Instagram with over 1.7K followers; however, unlike her, Bill remains passive on social media platforms.
Nonetheless, Bill Byron played a crucial role in sparking William’s interest in racing. In 2006, he took young William to a NASCAR race, igniting William’s passion.
William Byron’s Mother, Dana Temple Byron, Faced a Health Scare With the Diagnosis of Cancer!
Dana Byron’s cancer journey began in 2021 when she was diagnosed with a MALT lymphoma tumor on the left side of her brain.
The diagnosis came after she experienced a stroke-like event at the Martinsville racetrack.
William took to his Twitter to share the entire backstory from her symptoms to her diagnosis.
It all started after Dana started to have a numb feeling in her right arm, and shortly after, she found it difficult to speak with the stroke-like event.
Fortunately, she received immediate medical attention and was taken to the local hospital. Following further tests and scans, doctors discovered a mass near her brain.
She was then transferred to Atrium Health in Charlotte, where several doctors, including a family friend, cared for her.
After a few days of testing, it was determined that she had a rare but treatable form of lymphoma called MALT Lymphoma.
Dana faced several difficulties during her treatment, including multiple hospitalizations and the need for surgery and radiation therapy.
Her diagnosis of cancer took a significant toll on the entire Byron family, let alone Dana. Despite challenges, Dana showed resilience through her cancer journey.
In 2022, Dana celebrated major milestones when William won the Martinsville race, dedicating the victory to her.
He said,
“This one is for my mom. This same weekend last year, she had kind of a mini-stroke and was diagnosed with brain cancer. It means a lot to have her here. I kind of felt like she was riding in there with me.”
Dana Byron has been cancer-free since her successful treatment and recovery in 2022.
