Tributes continue to pour in for 21-year-old Scottish woman Chloe Hipson, who died alongside four others in a devastating crash in Dundalk, Ireland.

The tragedy unfolded around 9 p.m. on Saturday when a Volkswagen Golf carrying Chloe and her friends collided with a Toyota Land Cruiser on Ardee Road in the townland of Gibstown, County Louth.

Irish police, Gardaí, confirmed that all five occupants of the Volkswagen Golf—three men and two women—died at the scene.

Chloe, originally from Bellshill, Scotland, was among the victims.

The other young adults who lost their lives have been identified as Chloe McGee, 23; Shay Duffy, 21; Alan McCluskey, 23; and Dillon Commins, 23, all from the Republic of Ireland.

Authorities believe the group was on their way to socialise in Dundalk when the crash occurred.

The man and woman traveling in the Land Cruiser suffered serious injuries and were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where their conditions remain unknown.

Heartbreak rippled across both Ireland and Scotland as friends, classmates, and local communities mourned Chloe’s death.

North Motherwell FC, where Chloe’s older brother Ryan Hipson is a veteran player, announced it would hold a one-minute silence in her memory.

The club expressed its devastation in a statement, saying the Hipson family “have always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at NMFC.” The message continued:

“I am sure everyone will join me in sending our deepest condolences to you, Toni, Ryan, wee Tommy and all your family at this life-shattering time… Rest in peace, Chloe Hipson.”

Dozens of friends also shared emotional tributes online. Elizabeth Elliott described Chloe as “a lovely girl taken far too soon,” while Lee Connolly wrote, “Absolutely broken. A beautiful soul and a devastating loss.

The Glasgow Gospel community page also expressed sympathies, calling the tragedy “truly heartbreaking news” and sending prayers to all the families involved.

Chloe was reportedly in her second year at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT), where she was studying to become a quantity surveyor.

She had moved to Ireland after earning her qualifications from South Lanarkshire College and was working with a construction firm as she continued her studies.

Friends described her as ambitious, kind, and full of potential—qualities reflected in the outpouring of grief following her death.

Garda Superintendent Charlie Armstrong addressed the media near the crash site on Sunday.

He confirmed the loss of the “five young adults” and extended condolences on behalf of every member of An Garda Síochána.

Superintendent Armstrong urged anyone with information to contact Dundalk Garda Station, emphasizing the profound impact the tragedy will have on families and communities in Carrickmacross, Drumconrath, and Scotland.

As investigations continue, the Hipson family, their football community, classmates, and friends remain united in their grief.

The sudden loss of such a bright young woman has left both Scotland and Ireland mourning a life full of promise.

Rest in peace, Chloe Hipson.
