North Ridgeville is grieving the loss of Regenia Comerford (née Hill), age 84, who passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at The Avenue in North Ridgeville.
Born in Spring City, Tennessee, Regenia built her life in North Ridgeville after moving there in 1964, and for more than six decades, she dedicated her time, energy, and compassion to her family, church, and community.
Regenia worked as a cashier at Pick-N-Pay and IGA, where she became a familiar face to many residents.
Beyond her professional life, she served as a member and past chairperson of the Deacons Board at First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Her leadership as moderator strengthened the church’s mission, while her volunteer spirit extended into countless community projects.
She led North Ridgeville Community Care as a longtime volunteer and director, helped organize the St. Peter Chicken BBQ and Christmas Craft Show, and served as past president of both the St. Peter PTU and the North Ridgeville Arts Council.
Regenia also touched young lives as a coach for North Ridgeville City Baseball, where she earned the “Mr. Baseball Award,” and later coached CYO basketball in the 1970s.
Her devotion to community was matched only by her love for family.
She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, William, daughters Lisa Armaro, Lynn Maiers, and Lori Comerford, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, in-laws, son-in-law, and grandson, whose memories now join hers in her family’s legacy.
Neighbors remember Regenia as someone who always acted with kindness.
Longtime neighbor Gin Lou Foy shared a memory of how Regenia once walked over in the rain to deliver a package mistakenly sent to her home.
“She had a good heart. I am blessed to have her and Bill next door for all these years,” Foy wrote, expressing condolences to the family.
Visitation will take place on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 5–8 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home in North Ridgeville.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 11 AM at First Congregational United Church of Christ, with Pastor Kearstin Bailey officiating.
Regenia will be laid to rest at St. Peter Cemetery.
Through her volunteerism, leadership, and everyday acts of kindness, Regenia Comerford shaped the lives of countless people in North Ridgeville.
Her death leaves a void in the community, but her memory continues to inspire compassion, service, and love.
