The rise of Orion Kerkering to the big stages would not have been possible without the utmost support of his parents, Sheli and Todd Kerkering.

Orion’s father, Richard Todd Kerkering (born August 24, 1964), attended Webster University and graduated with a degree in security management in 2005.
He has been presently serving as an emergency manager at the City of Sarasota since May 2014.
Previously, he was the emergency management planning chief at Sarasota County from August 2007 to May 2014.

Kerkering said, “My grandpa was Richard John.” He further stated,
“My dad is Richard Todd. I’m Richard Orion. So, we always go by our middle names. That’s why I’ve always been Orion. They just liked the name a lot.”

MLB Debut
The 25-year-old made his debut against New York Mets on September 24, 2023.
Orion finished the game with two strikeouts in the eighth inning on Sunday night.
Moreover, his father, Todd, was present in the stands, watching his son’s exceptional performance.
Todd could not contain his emotions, and a video of him celebrating has gone viral over the internet.
