Patrick James Riley is a former American professional player and coach in the NBA. Since 1995, he has been the team president of the Miami Heat.

Pat Riley is always in his quest to build the best roster, so in 2023 Miami is strongly considering acquiring the Utah Jazz players Kelly Olynyk and Malik Beasley.

After high school, Pat attended the University of Kentucky and led the Kentucky team to an NCAA title game in 1966.

Riley was drafted by the San Diego Rockets in the first round as the seventh pick overall in 1967. 

After the Rockets went to Portland Trail Blazers, they quickly traded him to the Lakers. After that, he played a season for the Phoenix Suns before retiring in 1976. 

Moreover, he is a nine-time NBA Champion as a player, assistant coach, and head coach. The former basketball player won his first NBA title while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.

He became Paul Westhead’s assistant coach in 1979. After that, he won his second NBA Championship as an assistant coach of the Lakers. Finally, he won five NBA titles while serving as a coach in the league.

Besides that, he is a two-time NBA champion while serving as the executive President of Miami Heats. The former coach is regarded as one of the greatest and most successful in the franchise’s history.

Pat received NBA Coach of the Year three times in his coaching career. He was named one of the 10 Greatest Coaches in NBA history in 1996.

Not to mention, he was the recipient of NBA Executive of the Year in 2011. There is rarely any role in his life where he isn’t immensely successful.
