The former Major League Baseball pitcher Patrick Mahomes Sr. commenced serving a 10-day jail sentence in Texas following his DWI charge stemming from an incident in February.
Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes II, began his jail term on October 21.
According to People, the 54-year-old was booked into Smith County Jail at 4:53 p.m. on Monday, October 21.
Consequently, Mahomes pled guilty to the charge and is set to serve 10 days in jail, with his release scheduled for October 31.
Born and raised in Texas, he played in the MLB from 1992 to 2003 with teams such as Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, and New York Mets, among others.
In addition to baseball, he also played football and basketball, achieving significant achievements in each sport.
Patrick Mahomes Sr. Arrested for DWI Charge for the Third Time, Following Prior Charges in 2008 and 2019
Mahomes Sr. received a third-offense DWI charge by submitting a guilty plea in August, agreeing to five years of probation and “intense supervision.”
According to reports, this is not the first time he has faced charges for DWI, as he has now been convicted three times for the same offense.
Initially, the court charged the former pitcher with DWI on September 12, 2008, in South Dakota.

Later, on February 26, 2019, the local police detained him for the second time on a DWI accusation.
Moreover, Patrick Mahomes Sr. served 40 days in county jail following a previous drunk-driving arrest.
Furthermore, authorities took him into custody for public intoxication while attending his son’s game.
Thus, the retired pitcher has a history of facing custody due to alcohol-related offenses.

Law enforcement arrested Mahomes on February 3, just 8 days before his son won a third Super Bowl for the Chiefs.
Subsequently, he recorded a blood content of 0.23 when an officer pulled him over in Tyler, Texas.

According to the officer, he had an open can of 16-ounce Coors beer in the center console of his vehicle.
During his arrest, Mahomes attempted to use his son’s pending Super Bowl appearance to facilitate his escape from detention.
He said,

Despite the situation, Patrick Mahomes II delivered an exceptional performance, leading his team to a Super Bowl victory.
Mahomes Sr. secured his release on a $10,000 bail and attended the game to witness his son’s victory.
Later, authorities apprehended him for driving with an invalid license on June 29, just five months after his DWI arrest.
