Philip Rivers, a renowned NFL quarterback, was born in the city of Decatur, Alabama, to his father, Steve Rivers, who held the position of the head coach of Decatur High School’s football team, while his mother, Joan, dedicated her talents to educating young minds as a teacher.
Rivers married his high school sweetheart, Tiffany, in 2001. Because of Philip’s Roman Catholic faith, she converted to Catholicism.
Together the lovely couple have seven daughters and two sons.
The celebrated former NFL star quarterback, Rivers, and his beloved wife, Tiffany, have announced that they are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their 10th child this coming October.
The Rivers Expecting 10th Child
During a 7-on-7 event in Daphne, Philip Rivers revealed that he and his wife, Tiffany, are expecting a baby boy this fall.
This delightful news arrives amidst the Rivers’ already bustling household, where their nine children, ranging in age from 4 to 21, bring endless joy and laughter.
Reflecting on their expanding family, Rivers shared his excitement, mentioning the special significance of this particular addition.
With a proud smile, he expressed, “We’ve had one pretty much every two years, and now this is the longest gap. We are all fired up. Everyone was pulling for a boy. Even our girls wanted a boy.”
As they anticipate the arrival of their tenth child, Philip fondly spoke about their familial heritage, noting that his mother hails from a family of nine children, as does his maternal grandfather.
“We thought we would be the third generation of nine, but we decided to go double-digits – or I should say, we didn’t decide it. God decided,” he playfully remarked.
Although the couple has yet to select a name for their soon-to-arrive bundle of joy, Philip shared that they are in the process of considering various options.
He humorously added, “We are still kind of figuring that out. We have plenty of opinions. That is what we’ve got right now.”
Philip Rivers Family: Parents, Brother, Wife, And Kids
As mentioned before, Philip and his wife Tiffany share seven daughters, namely Halle, Caroline, Grace, Sarah, Rebecca, Clare, and Anna.
Similarly, Gunner and Peter are the couple’s two sons.
Gunner, Philip’s eldest son, is set to take the helm as the starting quarterback for St. Michael this season, continuing the family’s football legacy.
Brother
Philip Rivers’ brother Stephen Gunner Rivers was born on Nov. 14, 1992.
Just like his older brother, Stephen played football for his high school at Athens HS. He later attended Louisiana State University and played four games for LSU Tigers, all coming during his sophomore season in 2012.
Nicknamed “Moon” by Steve Kragthorpe, Stephen had the opportunity to showcase his skills during the 2014 spring semester when he interned in the LSU Sports Information Department.
Coincidentally, during his work at a men’s basketball game for the SID office, news of his transfer broke.
Amidst the halftime of the LSU vs. Mississippi State men’s basketball game, Philip found himself holding an impromptu press conference, confirming the report and addressing the situation directly.
The unexpected turn of events thrust him into the spotlight, with the basketball game becoming an unexpected backdrop for an important announcement regarding his athletic journey.
In addition to brother Stephen, Philip also has a sister named Anna.
