Jefferson High School’s Volleyball player, Alex Avila’s mother, Alexa, graduated from Instituto Tecnológico de Acapulco.
Alex Avila, a senior boys volleyball player at Jefferson High School in Indiana, suffered a Traumatic Brain injury after being involved in an automobile accident on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
As per the sources, Avila is in the ICU of the University of Louisville Hospital with a traumatic brain injury.
Jeffersonville Red Devils Volleyball took to their official Facebook handle and asked for prayers for Avila’s speedy recovery. They wrote,
We are asking for lots of prayers today. Senior Alex Avila was involved in an accident last night involving a car. Details are not clear at this time related to the accident, but what we do know he is in the ICU at U of L hospital and has some sort of traumatic brain injury and there is a brain bleed. We are asking for prayers to focus on the immediate need of healing and recovery for this awesome guy. This is not a forum for spreading misinformation and pointing blame. This is forum for healing and prayer, and Alex can use every single prayer you can send his way!

Nayeli Diaz, a graduate of Sullivan University, also took to her Facebook handle and prayed for Alex’s fast recovery. She wrote,

Alex, a member of the Class of 2025, plays middle hitter (MH) and opposite (OP) for the Jeffersonville High School Varsity Volleyball team in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Wearing a #24 jersey, he has competed with the team during the 2023-2024 season.
He recently posted a highlight featuring 2 kills in a match against Silver Creek, adding to his developing athletic profile.
Volleyball Player Alex Avila’s Parents Are Praying For His Speedy Recovery
A Jefferson High School senior, Alex Avila’s mother, Alexa, and father, whose identity has not been revealed, were devastated by the tragic accident involving her son.
Currently, they are praying for Alex’s speedy recovery.
Avila’s parents have supported him in achieving his volleyball dreams since childhood.
Although Alex and his parents live in Indiana, United States, their ancestors had a deep connection with Spanish heritage. Therefore, Alex and his family hold American nationality and are of Spanish ethnicity.
According to his mother, Alexa’s Facebook handle, she is from Acapulco, Guerrero, and attended Cobach Plantel 2. Later, she graduated from Instituto Tecnológico de Acapulco.
Alexa grew up with her brother, J Andrés Avila Tolentino. Her cousin Felipe Avila Estevez married Veronica Alejandra.
In addition, Alex has one younger brother and one elder sister, who have also avoided social media. However, it is known that his sister got married in July 2024.
