While walking in a crosswalk on Del Monte Avenue in Monterey, he was struck by a vehicle whose driver sped away.
The driver fled the scene, leaving Julian critically injured in the roadway.
According to Monterey Police and witness accounts, the suspect was identified as 44-year-old Emmanuel Juarez of Seaside.

After the accident, Julian suffered multiple injuries, including a broken right tibia and fibula, a broken shoulder blade, sacral fractures, a concussion, and a dislocated sternoclavicular joint that required surgery.
He is now recovering at the Natividad Trauma Center, and recovery will take time.
Although doctors expect him to heal fully, he currently faces physical challenges and cannot walk without assistance.
The treatments, therapy, and travel between Salinas and San Jose for care have placed a heavy financial strain on his family.

To help with these costs, Coach Paul Estrada created a GoFundMe campaign called Support Julian’s Road to Recovery.
The fundraiser aims to support Julian’s medical expenses and help his family manage travel and other needs during this difficult time.
Julian’s mother will receive the funds directly.
Let us all keep Julian in our thoughts and prayers, hoping for his full and speedy recovery.
