Andrew James Sungila (AJ) Hensley, a 19-year-old basketball player from Caulfield, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri.
Born on March 21, 2006, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to parents Jeremiah and Keeoma Walker Hensley, AJ was a young man with a passion for sports, music, and the outdoors.
The Community And His Family Are Mourning The Loss Of Andrew James Sungila Hensley!
AJ played basketball at Bakersfield High School in Missouri, where he was known for his athleticism, team spirit, and love for the game.
He was a well-rounded athlete who also enjoyed baseball.
Beyond sports, he was also a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity at Missouri State University in Springfield, where he actively participated in philanthropy and service initiatives.
Furthermore, he loved reading, cooking, hunting, fishing, camping, playing guitar, and spending time with friends.
Following his passing, many of AJ’s relatives, friends, and well-wishers have shared heartfelt tributes and condolences on social media.
One of the well-wishers expressed heartfelt sympathy and personal sorrow over AJ Hensley’s passing on Facebook and said:

AJ Hensley is survived by his parents, James and Jennifer Hensley; his brother, Aaron Hensley; and his grandparents, Jim and Judy Hensley, and John and Linda Sungila.
He is also remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members who loved him deeply.
On the other hand, AJ was preceded in death by his great-grandparents and other cherished relatives whose memories continue to be honored.
A Celebration of Life for Andrew James Sungila Hensley will take place on Wednesday, November 8, 2025, at the Bakersfield High School gym in Bakersfield, Missouri.
