The tragic death of 17-year-old Noah Scurry, a student of Samuel Fels High School in Philadelphia, has shaken the community.
A gunman shot him multiple times on the morning of January 14, 2025, while he was heading to school with his mother on the 5000 block of Rorer Street, near Tacony Creek Park and Roosevelt Boulevard.
The incident occurred at about 7:15 AM, as he was preparing to go to school on what should have been a typical school day.

Having been shot, responding police officers arrived to find Noah severely injured.
Emergency responders transported him to Jefferson Einstein Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead at 7:37 AM.
In earlier reports, the police stated they had recovered a weapon.
However, according to police spokespeople, there was no firearm or any weapon whatsoever at the location of the scene.
Murder detectives continue investigating, gathering info on possible suspects and the occurrence of the shooting incident.
Thus, nobody has been arrested, though official authorities urge individuals with helpful information to contact the investigators.
Noah was more than just another victim of gun violence.
He was a bright student and an excellent athlete, known for his superior basketball skills, and he had recently received the highest SAT score among his classmates at Samuel Fels High School.

Principal Melissa Rasper expressed her sorrow in a letter to families, saying that “death is rarely something that is easy to accept, especially when it involves a young person.”
She pointed out how tight their school community is, adding that all boys’ basketball games would be off for the rest of the week in memory of Noah.
Classmates described him as a beacon of positivity—someone who could light up a room with his presence.
Mohammed El-Faki, a fellow student, shared his sorrow, saying,
He was really smart. Whenever he entered a room, the room always lit. There was always a smile on somebody’s face when you were around him. Just so sad to think that he died
