Famous cyclist Rohan Dennis has two kids: a son and a daughter. The cyclist is topping the internet trends after the authorities have charged him over the death of his wife, Melissa.

Rohan Dennis was born in Adelaide, Australia, on May 28, 1990. Firstly, he started his cycling career in track events and won silver with the Australian team in the team pursuit at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

In the 2013 season, he made his debut in the prestigious Tour de France event. After good performances, he won the Sir Hubert Opperman medal and trophy for Australia’s best all-round cyclist in 2015.

In the commencing years, Dennis would go on to achieve newer and newer heights in the sport. Eventually, Dennis announced he would retire from the sport in February 2023.

In terms of his personal life, Dennis is very active on Instagram(@rohandennis), where he has shared heart-warming pictures of his children and family. Certainly, the news of his wife’s death has come as a shock to all cycling fans.

Similarly, Rohan’s wife’s name is  Melissa Hoskins. Additionally, the couple were engaged in 2017 and exchanged wedding vows in 2018.

Like her husband, Melissa was also a former track cyclist. She was a multiple-time Olympian and team pursuit world champion. 

Most notably, she participated as a member of the Australian track cycling team pursuit, which secured a fourth-place finish at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

In a recent tragic piece of news, Melissa Hoskins passed away at the age of 33 in Adelaide. Cycling and sporting fans, in general, are mourning the untimely death of Melissa with a great deal of shock and sadness.

Rohan Dennis Charged Over Death Of Wife

As mentioned earlier, Melissa Hoskins tragically passed away on December 30, 2023. After investigation by the authorities, it was revealed that she had died in a car accident.

Additionally, the police also said that she suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital for further treatment.

Unfortunately, she did not survive and died at the hospital in the night.

After further inspection, the authorities have charged her husband, Rohan Dennis, over the fatal incident.

The police took him into custody and released a statement charging him with dangerous driving, driving without care, and driving with hazardous implications.

“Following an investigation, a 33-year-old Medindie man has been arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care and endangering life. He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on March 13.”

The former cyclist has not come out with any public statement regarding the matter. This piece of news has rocked the sport of cycling to its core.
