The news of his untimely death has brought uneasiness to all of the hockey world and especially to Roman Cechmanek Deti (Kids).
Roman reportedly had tied the knot with Dagmar Cechmankova in 1992. It was reported that he was having serious financial problems which followed his divorce from Dagmar.
He is survived by his three children, two sons and a daughter. His kids are from his marriage with Dagmar.
Both of his sons play hockey and remember their father as a mentor and a role model.
Roman Cechmanek was born on March 2, 1971 in Gottwaldov, Czechoslovakia. He was a professional ice hockey goaltender who has played professionally in the United States, the Czech Republic, and Germany.
From 1994 until 2000, he was playing for HC Vsetin in the Czech Republic. Then, the Philadelphia Flyers selected him in the sixth round as the 171st overall pick in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Throughout his NHL career, he posted a record of 110 wins, 64 losses, and 28 ties, maintaining a 2.08 goals-against average, a .919 save percentage, and securing 25 shutouts in 212 games.
In 2004, he made a comeback to the Czech Republic, joining HC Vsetin.
During the Nagano Games in 1998, Cechmanek served as Dominik Hasek’s backup for the Czech Republic team. This was the team which won the Olympic gold victory that year.
Roman lost his life recently; reportedly, he was found dead by his son, Roman Jr.

Cechmanek’s legacy will now be carried on by three of his deti (Kids): Two sons and one daughter.
The names of his sons are Roman and Jakub, while he named his daughter Kateřina. Roman is his older son, who was born on April 6, 1998.
His father served as a huge inspiration for him in terms of his hockey career. He started with HC Vsetin U16 in the Czechia U16 league during the 2012-13 season and continued with both HC Vsetin U16 and HC Zlin U16 in 2013-14.
Moving up to the U18 level, he joined HC Vsetin U18 for the 2015-16 season. In 2016-17, Cechmanek once again moved up to the U20 league, playing for HC Zubr Přerov U20.
The following season, 2017-18, he committed himself to Berani Zlín U20 in the Czechia U20 league.
His younger son Jakub was born on June 23, 2004, in Zlin, Czech Republic. He, too, looked up to the role models of his family and pursued hockey as a career.
Jakub started his professional ice hockey career in the U16 league in 2018. He is also showcasing his skills with the HC Zlin youth team in the Czechia2 league.
Their sister, Kateřina, looks like someone who enjoys staying in her bubble as there isn’t a lot of information available about her.
His Former Wife Dagmar Cechmankova
The mother of Roman’s children is his former wife, Dagmar Cechmankova. Sources report that they married in 1992.
After parting ways, Dagmar found love in Jakub Larysz and got married. Both of them tied the knot on June 7, 2019, but they were dating way before that.
The Facebook page of outdoor equipment shared the couples’ picture of them biking.
Dagmar loves the outdoors, and she is frequently sharing posts of her adventures. She and her husband traveled from New Zealand to the Czech Republic on bicycles.
Dagmar is also working in Bikepacking Nomads . She went to study at the Palacký University in Olomouc, Faculty of Physical Culture.
Roman’s former wife was born in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Although she has found new love now, the loss of her former husband has affected her.
