His career began at Ohio State University, later joining the Steelers after being drafted in 2014.

In a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in 2017, he suffered a significant injury from a head-first tackle, leading to paralysis.

After undergoing spinal stabilization surgery and intense rehabilitation, he spent two seasons on the Steelers’ physically-unable-to-perform list before retiring in 2020.

Post-retirement, Shazier has dedicated himself to community work, establishing a nonprofit that supports individuals dealing with specific disabilities.

Previously, he worked as an NFL Chaplain with the Miami Dolphins and held a pastoral position at Mount Bethel Ministries in Fort Lauderdale.

He got his degree in Bio-Medical Engineering from Keiser University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Nova Southeastern University.

Later he completed his Master of Divinity in Theology from George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University in Texas.

Aside from his spiritual and academic pursuits, he has been part of The John Maxwell Team since August 5, 2016, and has prior experience working in Broward County Public Schools.

Moreover, he is also actively involved in several organizations. He has served as the President of The Champion Leader, Director of Football Operations at PMR Sports, and a Board Member and Chaplain for the National Football Players’ Fathers Association since March 2022.
