Daveon Dunn, a Raleigh, North Carolina native and former basketball player, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2025, at an untimely age, leaving his family, friends, and loved ones devastated.

According to some social media reports, the Raleigh Police Department found his lifeless body in his apartment. Some also stated that he was dealing with depression.

Daveon Dunn was a student-athlete at Saint Augustine’s University from which he graduated in 2024.

He won the hearts of many playing basketball for the Falcons from 2022 to 2024.

During his four-year tenure as a guard at Saint Augustine’s University, Daveon Dunn’s basketball team achieved several victories.

Many of his loved ones are paying tribute to the late Daveon Dunn and are extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

One wrote:

“This hurts so bad I’m so hurt about what happened to my little cousin Daveon Dunn this world is crazy as hell please keep his parents in your prayers they really need it Lord Jesus this really hurts.”

Daveon Dunn Played Multiple Sports at Garner High School

Known for his exceptional athleticism and leadership, Daveon was a standout multi-sport athlete throughout his high school years.

At Garner High, he served as captain of both the varsity basketball and football teams, signifying dedication, discipline, and a team-first attitude.

Standing 6’1” and weighing 150 lbs, Daveon played as a guard (#20) for the varsity basketball team and as an athlete (#8) for the varsity football team, contributing significantly on both sides of the field and court.

Similarly, in basketball, he led his team during his junior year (2019) to a 22-6 record, including a 10-2 conference performance that secured a second-place finish.

In his sophomore year (2018), he helped the team achieve a 17-10 record, with a 9-3 conference standing, also finishing second.

His talent and competitive spirit earned him multiple “Player of the Game” awards, recognizing his standout performances throughout the 2017 season on October 19, October 5, September 14, September 7, and August 30.

In addition to his athletic contributions, Daveon ranked among the top 68 in Division 4A for passing yards, accumulating 570 yards, and placed 6th in South Wake 4A in the same statistic.

Beyond numbers, Daveon was recognized for his leadership, work ethic, and ability to inspire his teammates, both on and off the field. He was deeply involved in school activities and societies, reflecting his commitment not just to sports but to his school community as a whole.

Daveon’s passing is a profound loss for the Garner High School community, his teammates, coaches, family, and all who knew him.
