Sania Mirza was born in Mumbai, India, on 15th November 1986 to her parents Imran Mirza and Naseema Mirza. She has a younger sister named Anam Mirza.  

Her father, Imran, works as a sports journalist, and her mother, Naseema, worked in a printing business. Both Mirza sisters were raised in a very religious Muslim family.

Career Major Ranking in WTA Doubles

Sania Mirza | Controversies

Throughout her career, Sania has had several controversies. Reportedly, in 2006, some newspapers stated that she declined to play doubles with Shahar Pe’er, an Israeli tennis player, due to fear of protests from India’s Muslim community.
