On September 13, 1986, Sean Williams was born in Houston, Texas, the United States, to Audrey Garrett and Roland Williams. He has two siblings, Myles Garrett and Brea Garrett. 

Williams grew up in Arlington, Texas, with his mother, Audrey, and stepfather Lawrence Garrett. His siblings are half-siblings. Williams did not spend much time with his biological father.

Sean Williams: Career

Williams used to play college basketball. He was part of the Boston team and started as a standout for the team.

Williams had skills and physique and was perfect for the intimidation of the opposite team. So he used to be often placed in the center by the coach.

Williams’s intense gameplay and bold attitude on the court while blocking the shots of the opposite team earned him the blocking force of Boston. 

His games in the college were named the Seam Williams block party by the teammates as he was such advanced in blocking skills. Williams never played the whole season with his college team, but the time did not limit him from earning a massive place in the basketball field as he was part of the Big East Conference and ACC.

Williams was the top player who could block the shot and create many records during his college days in 2006-2007. 

Dismissal from the College Team

In junior year, Williams was involved in some restrictive activities in college, and the disciplinary team of college suspended him for the actions. He repeated such steps twice and bore the consequences.

In 2005, the authority arrested Williams in charge of possession of Marijuana. Following the arrest, he was dismissed from the college team by the college.

Williams pleaded to the authority for not being guilty of the crime and was eventually proved as not guilty by the officials after completing the official investigation. 

Charges were dropped after he completed the rehabilitation program. He was suspended for one semester by Boston, and during the suspension, he attended classes at the University of Houston. 

Soon, Williams was back in the game after clearing his name from all the controversies related to the case.

The New Jersey Nets drafted Williams into NBA in 2007. He started his NBA career with the Nets.

Controversies

In February 2009, Williams attended the BC Duke game and violated the no-trespassing order. His actions caused him to be arrested by the police. 

Williams was hostile while being arrested. The police report suggested that he was scribbling profanity rather than his identity on the fingerprinting card and trespassing warning. 

On March 16, 2009, another incident occurred, which caused the player’s arrest. Williams was charged with inappropriate behavior with a clerk in a phone store at Park Meadows Mall in Lone Tree, Colorado.

During the argument, Williams threw the computer monitor of the store, which also caused damage to the printer and signature pad. Hence, he was charged with a felony and malicious mischief for his actions. 

After the incident, he could not fly back to New Jersey and was out for two games. Such malicious behavior is not entertained in the sports genre, so he was suspended from two games in the season. 

On December 29, 2008, Williams was exchanged to the Colorado 14ers of the NBA D-League. On January 22, 2009, the Nets called back Williams but were waived from the contract on January 11, 2010.

International Career

Williams signed with the Fujian SBS XunXin of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) in 2010. In total, he played 16 games for the team. Williams won the CBA All-Star Game Dunk contest in 2010. 

In the 2009-10 season, Williams played for Mets de Guaynabo in Puerto Rico. He had an average season with 10 points per game. 

In August 2010, Williams signed with the Hapoel Jerusalem in the Israeli League. He could not play a game for the team as he was released before the first game.

On August 10, 2011, Williams entered a contract with the Maccabi Haifa B.C. The contract had a clause that said he could return to the NBA if he received an NBA offer. He played for three months with the team.

NBA D-League

In November 2010, Williams signed with the Texas Legends. Because of his outstanding skills and performance, he was selected for the NBA D-League All-Star Game in 2011.

Williams was selected for the All-NBA Development League Third Team. He ranked second as the Defensive Player of the Year in 2011.
