Wide receiver DK Metcalf was born to parents Terrence and Tonya Metcalf as one of five children on December 14, 1997.
DK Metcalf‘s parents, Tonya and Terrence, crossed paths while both students at Ole Miss.
Born on October 19, 1978, in Abbeville, Mississippi, Tonya graduated in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences and later pursued a master’s degree in speech-language pathology in 2016.
His mother, Tonya Malone Metcalf, played a significant part in his successful career. While, his father, Terrence Orlando Metcalf, laid the groundwork for DK Metcalf’s football inclination through his accomplished career.
The growing wide receiver had huge influence from his father while growing up.
DK Metcalf had a front-row seat to his father’s career, from celebrating on the field at Ole Miss to witnessing the Bears’ Super Bowl run.
In a 2015 interview with The Clarion Ledger, DK Metcalf recalled being invited into the Bears’ locker room after their NFC Championship win.
Likewise, Terrence also had recognized his ability early on. In a Talkin’ Seahawks podcast, Terrence recounted a high school game where Metcalf, then a sophomore, pancaked a defensive back onto the track.
“He tried to finish guys like he was an offensive lineman,” Terrence said.

A standout offensive guard, Terrence’s journey began at Clarksdale High School, where he earned Parade magazine All-American honors.
Thanks to his skills, he earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where he played for the Rebels from 1998 to 2001.
During his collegiate career, Terrence showcased his potential to the fullest. He earned first-team All Southeastern Conference (SEC) honors in 2000 and 2001, second-team All-American recognition in 1999, and consensus first-team All-American status in 2001.
His noteworthy performance got him inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2025.

Following his successful collegiate career, the Chicago Bears selected Terrence in the third round of the 2002 NFL.
He had a seven-year professional career from 2002 until 2008. During his NFL career, he appeared in 84 games, starting 25, and was part of the Bears team that reached Super Bowl XLI in 2007.
After his time with the Bears, Terrence also briefly joined the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints during training camps in 2009 and 2010, respectively, before retiring in 2010.
Post-retirement, the offensive guard transitioned into coaching and was an assistant coach at Pearl River Community College. Later, he was named head football coach at Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale in December 2022.
