Who is Venus Willams?

It is entirely undeniable that the Williams sisters have dominated women’s Tennis for nearly two decades. Venus Williams is the oldest among the two tennis star sisters.

She is the former world’s no.1  female tennis player of all time who has made a significant contribution to the game by bringing extreme athleticism to it.

Venus is the only active player with 49 WTA singles titles, trailing only her sister. Venus has been the No. 1 player in the Women’s Tennis Association for 19 weeks.

She ascended to the top of the singles charts in February 2002 and remained there for 11 weeks. Moreover, the star has appeared in 16 Grand Slam singles finals, winning seven.

She is only slightly behind her sister Serena in terms of prize money. Not to mention, Venus has inspired all women, especially those of color, because of her determination and passion for the game.

Apart from that, the charm and entertainment she brought to the tennis game are also commendable.

We’ve never seen a player achieve such outstanding accomplishments despite financial circumstances. This article outlines her personal and professional life and is highly recommended.

Who is Yetunde Price?

Serena and Venus do have the same mother and Father. Their mother, Oracene Price, has three daughters with Yusef Rasheed from her first marriage.

On September 14, 2003, Yetunde Price, the oldest of their mother’s five children, was murdered. Price and her lover, Rolland Wormley, were shot in their SUV in an alleged drug home in Compton, California.

Robert Edward Maxfield, a member of the Southside Crips, was arrested for the murder and charged with voluntary manslaughter in 2006. The guilty was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment but was released after 12 due to good behavior.

“No matter what, my sister isn’t coming back for good behavior,” Serena said to Marie Claire in an interview after learning that Maxfield had been freed from prison early. “It’s inexcusable that she’ll never be able to hug me.”

However, reports suggest that their car was mistaken for that of rival gangsters’ shooters, so this tragedy took place. We pray she finds peace up there.

Yetunde and her half-sister were quite close before she died. Serena’s assistant was one of her jobs.

Yetunde Murder Case

Price was conversing with her boyfriend in her SUV outside what was later determined to be a trap House in the Compton suburbs of Los Angeles County, California, on September 14, 2003.

Two Southside Compton Crips street gang members, who were protecting the residence, opened Fire on the SUV, believing they were “defending the crack House from gangland rivals,” likely the Lime Hood Bompton Pirus, according to the prosecution at the later trial.

Price’s boyfriend, who subsequently claimed he was unaware that Price had been hit, rushed away in the car to a relative’s House, where he dialed 911. Price died of a bullet wound to the head shortly after arriving at the hospital.

At the murder trial, the prosecutor and the defense agreed that Price was an innocent victim who was not in the area to buy narcotics with her partner.

Who are Isha Price and Lyndrea Price?

Serena is also close with her mother’s other daughters, Isha and Lyndrea. Isha is an attorney who handles many of Venus and Serena’s business matters. Isha has a total net worth of $1 to $2 Million.

Serena Williams has her own apparel business in addition to her tennis career. Lyndrea has a passion for fashion and works as a creative production stylist for merchandising. Similarly, Lyndrea has an estimated net worth of $1.5 Million.

Vernon Imani and Lyndrea are in a relationship. He works for American Campus Communities as a community assistant. During a get-together with their pals, the devoted couple met for the first time.

The loving couple who make a lot of public appearances has been dating for quite some time now. But the pair is yet to be married.

Williams Sisters Rivalry

The Williams sisters rivalry is a modern-day tennis rivalry between star sisters Venus and Serena Williams, two of the greatest and most celebrated tennis players of all time.

Both Williams sisters have been ranked number one globally: Venus was in the sky for 11 weeks starting in February 2002, while Serena was in the sky for 316 weeks starting in July 2002. Venus has won 49 singles trophies throughout her career, while Serena has 73.

From the 2002 French Open to the 2003 Australian Open, the Williams sisters are the only two women in Open Era history to compete in four consecutive Grand Slam finals. Additionally, Serena Williams won all four finals.

Despite this, the sisters remain pretty close. Moreover, when they played doubles together, they won 22 trophies, including 14 Grand Slams and three Olympic gold medals.

Who is Williams’ sisters’ mother?

Oracene Price is an American tennis instructor and mother of the Williams sisters. Price is best recognized for being the mother and coach of two of the greatest tennis players of all time, Venus and Serena Williams.

Price was born in 1952 in Saginaw, Michigan, and was named “Brandy.” Richard Williams is her ex-husband, whom she divorced in 2002.

After Rasheed’s (Price’s first husband) death, Oracene married Richard Williams and had two more children, Venus and Serena Williams, while working as a nurse.

The daughters, Venus and Serena Williams, are professional and reputed tennis players who have won multiple Grand Slam titles.

Coaching and guiding

Her primary role as a mother has always overshadowed Price’s coaching, yet she has been criticized for being underestimated as a coach.

Price is not a coach in the traditional sense (though she did learn Tennis to guide her daughters in the technical aspects of the game).

Despite that, she is credited with keeping her daughters focused and disciplined, as well as helping to build a solid base of self-esteem and outside interests for her daughters, along with Richard Williams.

“There is no such thing as pressure.” “That’s all we’ve ever had as black Americans. It’s a fact of life. So, where does the pressure come from?”

According to famed tennis coach Nick Bollettieri, this attitude was accompanied by respect, as neither Price nor Richard Williams raised their voices in front of their daughters.

According to Journalist Bonnie D. Ford, the Williams sisters’ longevity can be attributed to their parents and how Richard Williams and Price have assisted them in managing their jobs and lifestyles.

How are they related to Sabrina Williams and Alphonse Williams?

Sabrina is Betty Johnson’s daughter, the former wife of King Richard. Richard departed from his former wife with five children when Sabrina was eight.

Alphonse Williams was the son of Sabrina. He allegedly committed suicide on February 3. 2022, with an overdose of unknown medication.

He was the nephew of the William sisters, whom he never happened to meet till the day he died. He hadn’t even met his grandfather and was suffering from “serious depression” and a “bipolar disorder.”

The Williams didn’t attend his funeral, and Sabrina said the Williams sisters were “dead for her” in an interview.
