Veronica Shanti Pereira was born on September 20, 1996, in Singapore. Pereira is a track and field athlete who specializes in 100 meters, 200 meters, the 4 x 100 meter relay, and the 4 x 400 meter relay.

Additionally, Shanti has the 100 m national record of 11.20 seconds, the 200 m national record of 22.57 seconds, and the 200 m SEA Games record of 22.69 seconds.

Moreover, she also holds the 200-meter Asian Athletics Championships game record of 22.70 seconds. Based on World Athletics records, Veronica was ranked first in Asia in the 100 m and the 200 m in 2023.

Furthermore, the athlete won gold in 23.03 seconds in the 19th Asian Games, ending Singapore’s 49-year wait for the gold medal in track and field since Chee Swee Lee’s victory in the women’s 400m in 1974.

Zong Yang Tan is an associate at Allen & Gledhill LLP. Before that, Yang worked as an associate at Niru & Co. LLC for two years.

Tan took a five-month no-pay leave as an associate at Niru & Co. LLC to focus on preparation for the SEA Games. Later, Tan said the no-paid leave actually paid off.

Furthermore, Yang is the second athlete Luis Cunha of Portugal coached to win a medal at the Hanoi Games.
